- Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
- Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.

Damage to steering column switch cluster (SZL) .
The steering column switch cluster (SZL) or the coil spring cassette can be damaged by twisting the steering wheel if the lower steering shaft (or the universal joint) is separated from the steering gear or the steering column .

The steering column switch cluster (SZL) or the coil spring cassette can be damaged by twisting the steering wheel if the lower steering shaft (or the universal joint) is separated from the steering gear or the steering column .
- After separating the lower steering shaft (or the universal joint) from the steering gear or from the steering column, secure the steering wheel against twisting.

- Refer to REMOVING THE BOTTOM WHEEL ARCH COVER ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE CRASH LEVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT SECTION OF THE FRONT WHEEL ARCH COVER ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to PARTIALLY REMOVING THE LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE VENTILATION DUCT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE REAR SECTION OF THE WHEEL ARCH COVER ON THE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to DETACHING THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE EPS FROM THE FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Unclip the line from holder (2).
- Refer to DISCONNECTING THE LEFT AND RIGHT ANTI-ROLL BAR LINK FROM THE ANTI-ROLL BAR .
- Refer to PREPARING THE SPECIAL TOOL .

NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Loosen screws (1)
.
- Position the special tool 2 219 012
on the front subframe with the special tools 0 495 819 (31 5 253) and 0 495 821 (31 5 255)
.
The center of gravity of the front axle must be centrally above the special tool 2 219 012 !
- Support the front subframe with the special tool 2 219 012 .
- Secure the front subframe onto the special tool 0 495 817 (31 5 251) with a tensioning strap
.
- Loosen screws (1)
and (2)
.
- When lowering the front subframe, ensure sufficient distance between the steering gear (1)
and the output shaft (2)
.
- Lower the front subframe (1)
with the special tool 2 219 012
by dimension (A)
.
Dimensions (A) = maximum 15 cm
