41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate
Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.

Observe gap dimensions. See 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .
The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.
- Soft top compartment lid. See 41 63 068 ADJUSTING SOFT TOP COMPARTMENT LID .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Connect charger to battery
- Remove water channel cover, rear (tailgate). See 51 71 385 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR MIDDLE WATER GUTTER TRIM (REAR LID) .
Open tailgate.
Undo latch mechanisms and disconnect wiring harness holder (1) from hinge.
Undo nut (1) and remove ground cable.
Tightening torque 41 62 8AZ .
Slacken nuts (2) until such stage that the tailgate can still be moved.
Adjust tailgate laterally and longitudinally.
Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .
When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. If necessary, adjust striker. See 51 24 004 ADJUSTING REAR LID LOCK .
Height adjustment of tailgate:
Slacken screw (1) until such stage that the hinge (2) can still be moved.
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ .
Close rear lid.
Open soft top compartment cover.
Slacken nuts (1) until hinge can be moved.
Adjust height of tailgate.
Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ .
Adjust stop pad. See 51 23... ADJUSTING/REPLACING BUMP STOPS .
After setting:
- Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
- Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate color.
- If reversing camera optional equipment installed:
Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
