41 63 068 Adjusting Soft Top Compartment Lid

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Connect battery charger.
Set down the soft top in the soft top compartment.
Remove the water channel cover at the rear center. See 51 71 385 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR MIDDLE WATER GUTTER TRIM (REAR LID) .

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage!
Only open soft top compartment lid and tailgate individually.

Setting in the area of the soft top compartment lid hinges:

Open tailgate.

Carry over the work step shown symmetrically to the other side of the vehicle.

Slacken nuts (1).

Set the height and longitudinal and lateral directions of the soft top compartment lid using shims (2).

Tightening torque 41 63 2AZ .

When closing the soft top compartment lid, the strikers must not come into contact with or grind against the soft top compartment lid locks. If necessary, remove striker.

Close rear lid.

Open the soft top compartment lid as shown and secure against lowering.

WARNING: Danger of injury by trapping!
Soft top compartment lid lowers itself after approx. 20 seconds after the ignition is switched off.

When the ignition is switched on, the soft top compartment lid lowers after approx. 20 sec.

Setting in the area of the soft top compartment lid lock (striker):

Slacken screws (1) Pay attention to shims (2).

Adjust the height of the soft top compartment lid relative to the side wall using shims.

Tightening torque 41 63 4AZ .

After setting:

Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
