51 24 004 Adjusting rear lid lock

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Prerequisite:

Rear lid must be correctly adjusted to fit; if necessary, adjust rear lid. See 41 62 014 ADJUSTING TAILGATE .

Depending on version, press in or screw in bump stop (1) on tailgate on left and right completely.

NOTE: Operation is described in:

Lever out sealing cap (1).

Slacken screws (2) until striker (1) can still just be moved and centers itself.

IMPORTANT: Striker (1) must not brush against tailgate lock.

Close rear lid.

Check gap dimensions and locking comfort. See 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

If necessary, repeat procedure.

NOTE: When the tailgate is closed, the striker must not touch or scrape against the tailgate lock. Look out for scratch marks.

Open tailgate.

Tighten down screws.

Tightening torque 51 24 3AZ .

Adjust bump stops (1) on tailgate.

NOTE: Operation is described in:

Version with reversing camera:

After adjusting, check rear view camera and if necessary RECALIBRATE .
