41 34 041 Stripping-Down Operations - Replacing Complete Tail Panel (Non-Hybrid)

NOTE: Owing to the different engine variants and equipment specifications, not all the components are taken into consideration.
The following list basically represents the removal sequence.
  • Disconnect negative battery cable (61 20 900 )
  • Remove bumper trim (51 12 156 )
  • Remove bumper carrier (51 12 050 )
  • Remove center guide (51 12 825 )
  • Remove guide for bumper on left and right (51 12 828 )
  • Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (51 47 101 )
  • Upper tail panel trim (51 46 050 )
  • Remove left luggage compartment wheel arch panel (51 47 151 )
  • Remove right luggage compartment wheel arch panel (51 47 161 )
  • Remove striker for rear lid (51 24 130 )
  • Remove both rear lights (63 21 180 )
  • Partially detach tailgate seal

Remove cable holder (1).

Lever out expander rivet (2) and remove padding (3).

Release nut (1) and remove earth support point. Tightening torque 41 34 2AZ .

Repeat work on right-hand side of vehicle.

Remove insert (1).

Lever out expanding rivet (2) and remove storage compartment (3).

Release wiring harness (1) and place to one side.

Release nuts for control unit (1) and holder (2).

Release plug connections and remove holder and control units.
