51 36 071 Replacing rear left or right side window
Special tools required:

Cover rear side panels with protective covers.
Only with an undamaged TPE spray-coating (TPE = Thermoplastic Elastomers) can the side window be reused.
Removal is carried out with WIRE PULL HANDLE .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove SIDE TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR (C-pillar)
- TRIM PANEL FOR REAR ROOF PILLAR (D-pillar)
- Remove STRIP ON SIDE WINDOW
Tape off body in area of piercing point with fabric adhesive tape.
Moisten TPE spray-coating with water so that cutting wire can slide between body and side window and TPE spray-coating is not damaged.
Secure side window against falling out.
Push wire starter from ROLL OUT 2000 at line (1) through adhesive bead.
Feed in cutting wire, secure special tool 51 3 270 and cut through adhesive bead in direction of arrow.
Remove side window.
Fitting 3 Dual Lock tapes
Remove rest of dual-lock tapes (1) and clean bonding surface.
Stick new dual-lock tapes (1) to body (2).
Dual-lock tapes on side window must match these dual-lock tapes.
Installation note:
Check clip (1) for damage; replace if necessary.
Assemble side window (3) with trim strip (2) before applying the adhesive bead. Secure trim strip (2) with Dual Lock tape (4).
Installation note:
To secure the basic position, first place side window (3) with clip (1) of trim strip (2) in the body flange.
Center side window (1) at TPE spray-coating (2).
Insert side window (1) completely.
Close rear door.
Adapt side window (1) to rear door if necessary.
Snap side window into dual-lock tapes and secure with yellow plastic adhesive tape*.
