BATTERY POSITIVE LEAD REPLACING STEP

Switch off ignition.	-
Disconnect negative battery lead.	Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery . See 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY
Lift engine hood into assembly position . See 51 00 ... SERVICE POSITION OF ENGINE HOOD/BONNET	-
Remove intake air manifold . See 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE AIR MANIFOLD (N73)	-
Remove right fresh air duct . See 64 31 031 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT MICROFILTER AIR DUCT (AUTOMATIC A/C HIGH)	-
Remove bulkhead, equipment compartment, center . See 51 71 085 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTER OF ASSEMBLY COMPARTMENT BULKHEAD	-
Remove suction filter housing . See 13 71 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT (OR RIGHT) INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (N73)	-
Disconnect battery positive lead from jump-start support point.	-
Detach battery positive lead from alternator . See 12 31 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING ALTERNATOR (LIQUID-COOLED N73)	Tightening torque 12 31 1AZ . See 12 31 ALTERNATOR WITH DRIVE AND MOUNTING PARTS
Secure engine in installation position with special tool . See 11 00 ... SECURING ENGINE IN INSTALLATION POSITION WITH SPECIAL TOOL (N73)	-
Lower front axle. See 31 11 506 LOWERING/RAISING FRONT AXLE CARRIER	-
Remove left exhaust manifold . See 18 40 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLD (N73)	-
Detach battery positive lead from starter motor . See 12 41 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STARTER MOTOR (N73)	Tightening torque 12 41 4AZ . See 12 41 STARTER AND MOUNTING PARTS

Release screws (1).

Remove left engine support arm.

Unclip battery positive lead (2) from holders (1).

Unclip battery positive lead (3) from holders (1).

Disconnect battery positive lead from jump-start support point.

For tightening torque 12 42 1AZ , see STARTER LEAD .

Add final details to vehicle.

Check function of DME.
