Cylinder head, assembly overview: Notes

NOTE:
- Illustration depicts cylinder head of cylinder bank 2 (left).
1 - Cylinder head
- Remove left cylinder head → Left cylinder head, removing
- Remove right cylinder head → Right cylinder head, removing
- Check for distortion → Checking cylinder head for distortion
- Resurfacing is not permissible
- Installing → Cylinder head, installing
- Renew coolant after replacing
2 - Cylinder head bolt
- Observe sequence for tightening → Figure
3 - Cylinder head cover gaskets and ignition coils
- Replace if damaged or leaking
4 - Cylinder head cover gasket
- Replace if damaged or leaking
- Seal contact surfaces with sealant before installing → Seal contact surfaces of bearing cap/cylinder head
- Sealant
5 - Cylinder head cover
- Removing and installing left cylinder head cover → Left cylinder head cover, removing and installing
- Removing and installing right cylinder head cover → Right cylinder head cover, removing and installing
6 - Special bolt, 10 Nm
- Replace if damaged or leaking
7 - Gasket
- Replace if damaged or leaking
8 - Gasket
- For cap
- Replace if damaged or leaking
9 - Cap
10 - 10 Nm
11 - Ignition coil
- Removing → 01 - MAINTENANCE
12 - Gasket
- Replace if damaged
13 - Cylinder head cover gasket
- Replace if damaged or leaking
14 - O-ring
- Replace
15 - Rear coolant pipe
16 - 10 Nm
17 - Combination valve for Secondary Air Injection (AIR)
18 - 10 Nm
19 - Gasket
- Replace
20 - Cylinder head gasket
- Replacing → Cylinder head, removing → Left cylinder head, removing
- Installed location: Part number facing cylinder head
- Replace coolant after replacing
