Replacement of instrument cluster, input values
NOTE:
It is important to note the following points when replacing the instrument cluster:
- The instrument cluster must always be coded.
- Before replacing the instrument cluster, make a note of the values which appear on VAG1551 scan tool in all the adaptation channels for the service reminder indicator.
- The values noted must be programmed into the new instrument cluster so that it can count down to when the next service is due.
- Make a note of the display on the odometer and enter it as explained.
- Even on export versions with speedometers calibrated in miles, the adaptation of the odometer in the service reminder indicator must be made in kilometers. To do this, either convert the adaptation value from miles to kilometers, or enter the adaptation value that was noted from the old instrument cluster.
- Conversion of miles to kilometers: miles x 1.609 = km.
- Kilometers are displayed in "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08, display groups 002 and 050.
The following steps must be carried out after replacing the instrument cluster:
- Code instrument cluster. See CODE CONTROL MODULE (SCAN TOOL FUNCTION 07) .
- Reset Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) after service. See RESETTING SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI) AFTER A SERVICE
.
or
- Adapt distance remaining until next oil change service. See ADAPTING SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI), AFTER REPLACING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (DISTANCE REMAINING UNTIL NEXT OIL CHANGE SERVICE) .
- Adapt distance remaining until next inspection service. See ADAPTING SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI), AFTER REPLACING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (DISTANCE REMAINING UNTIL NEXT INSPECTION SERVICE) .
- Adapt time remaining until next inspection service. See ADAPTING SERVICE REMINDER INDICATOR (SRI), AFTER REPLACING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (TIME REMAINING UNTIL NEXT INSPECTION SERVICE)
.
and
- Adapt odometer display. See ADAPTING ODOMETER DISPLAY (KILOMETERS, MILES) .
