Checking the boost pressure sensor signal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Volvo S40, 2003 Volvo S40, 2002 Volvo S40, 2001 Volvo S40, and 2000 Volvo S40. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition on
- Activate the readout of boost pressure sensor values.
- Check that the value from boost pressure sensor 2 (MAP) does not deviate from that of boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP) by more than 200 mbar. Boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP) is used as the reference value in this test.
Select one of the following alternatives to continue:
- The value of boost pressure sensor 2 (MAP) deviates more than 200 mbar from the value of boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP).
Refer to Replacing the component
- The values of the boost pressure sensors are about the same.
- The value of boost pressure sensor 2 (MAP) deviates more than 200 mbar from the value of boost pressure sensor 1 (BOP).
- Restore the connectors.
- Ignition on
Activate the readout of boost pressure sensor and atmospheric pressure values.
Check that the value from boost pressure sensor does not deviate from that of the atmospheric pressure sensor by more than 200 mbar. The atmospheric pressure sensor is used as the reference value in this test.
If the value of the boost pressure sensor is not within 200 mbar of the atmospheric pressure sensor, try a new boost pressure sensor.
