-- Remove the roller rocker lever together with the support elements and then lay it on a clean surface.
-- Be careful not to interchange the roller rocker levers and the support elements.
Installing:
Conditions:
- When installing the camshafts, the cam lobes for cylinder 1 -A- must point upward.
Procedure:
-- Turn the crankshaft using the Counterhold - Kit - Multiple Use:T10172 in the direction of engine rotation to the cylinder 1 TDC marking.
-- Lightly coat contact surfaces of bearing caps 7 and 8 with Universal Grease before installing.
-- Install the support elements in the cylinder head and then mount the roller rocker lever on the valve stem ends or support elements.
-- Make sure that all roller rocker levers -1- properly contact valve stem tips and are clipped into the respective support elements -2-.
-- Oil the camshaft running surfaces.
-- Place the camshaft carefully into the camshaft bearing on the cylinder head. At the same time pay attention to the identification on the camshafts. Refer to Camshaft Identification .
-- Pay attention to the installed position of the bearing cap.
Installed position of camshaft bearing caps
The points -arrow A- on the intake and exhaust camshaft bearing caps face outward.
-- Position the bearing cap for the intake camshaft and tighten to the tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Figure.
-- Position the bearing cap for the exhaust camshaft and tighten to the tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Figure.
-- Insert the Camshaft Bar: T10068 A in both shaft grooves.
-- Check the screen for contamination before installing. Refer to Figure.
-- Before installing the control housing, oil the camshaft seals.
-- Oil the contact surface of seals in the control housing and then slide the control housing slowly over the seal for the camshafts.
-- Install the control housing. Insert and tighten the bolts -arrows- using Locking Fluid:D 000 600 A2 .
