Overview - Input Shaft

NOTE:
When install new drive gears. Refer to the technical data TRANSMISSION/ENGINE ALLOCATION and the parts information.
Insert all bearings, selector gears and synchronizer rings on input shaft with transmission fluid.
Do not exchange synchronizer rings, always allocate to original selector gear when reusing.
Wearing safety gloves, warm the gear wheels and the synchronizer hubs to approximately 100 °C (212 °F) using an Inductive Heater :VAS6414 before installing them.

- Replace after removing
- Selecting thickness. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING - Select a new locking ring -arrow-. .
- Locking Collar with 5th Gear Synchronizer Hub
- Removing and Installing. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
- Disassembling. Refer to Figure.
- Assembling 5th gear locking collar/synchronizer hub. Refer to Assembling Locking Collar, Synchronizer Hub For 3RD & 4TH Gears .
- Installed position. Refer to Figure.
- 5th Gear Synchronizer Ring
- Checking for wear. Refer to Checking 4TH Gear Synchro-Ring For Wear .

- Needle Bearing
- For 5th gear
- Replace together with sleeve. Refer to -item ) Sleeve-.
- Sleeve
- For the 5th gear needle bearing
- Replace together with needle bearing. Refer to -item ) Needle Bearing-.
- Remove with bearing mount/grooved ball bearing. Refer to Figure
- Installing. Refer to Installing The 5TH Gear Needle Bearing Sleeve .
- Transmission Housing
- Bearing Mount with Grooved Ball Bearing
- Only replace grooved ball bearing together with bearing mount
- If bearing mount is removed from transmission housing, it must always be replaced

- 4th Gear Synchronizer Ring

- 4th Gear Wheel
- Sleeve
- For the 4th gear needle bearing
- Replace together with the needle bearing. Refer to -item ) Needle Bearing-.
- Removing with the 3rd gear wheel. Refer to Figure

- Needle Bearing

- Replace together with the sleeve. Refer to -item ) Sleeve-.
- Thrust Washer
- Bearing Inner Race for the Cylindrical Roller Bearing

- Can also be removed. Refer to first figure in The Cylinder Roller Bearing Inner Race Can Only Be Removed Separately With The Gear Wheel For The 4TH Gear
