Slave Cylinder: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing 

-- First check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.

-- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the shift cable lock washer -arrow 1- from the transmission shift lever -A-.

-- Remove the shift cable from the pin.

With a Metal Relay Lever

-- Remove the selector cable circlip -2- from the relay lever -B-.

-- Remove the selector cable from the pin.

-- Remove the lock washer -arrow 3- from the relay lever -B- and remove the relay lever.

With a Plastic Relay Lever 

-- Remove the relay lever together with the cable retainer from the transmission. Refer to PLASTIC RELAY LEVER .

Continuation for all Levers 

-- Remove the nut -arrow 4- and then remove the transmission shift lever -A-.

-- Remove the cable bracket bolts -arrows- from the transmission.

-- Tie up the shift and selector cables with the bracket.

-- Remove the bracket -B- from the transmission and then pull it off the hose/line assembly -A-.

-- Remove the transmission support bolts -arrows A- and support.

-- Place a lint free cloth under the clutch master cylinder.

-- Remove the clip for the hose/line assembly from the clutch slave cylinder.

-- Pull the hose/line assembly out of the slave cylinder and plug it.

-- Remove the clutch slave cylinder bolts -arrows B- and slave cylinder.

CAUTION:

Do not press the clutch pedal anymore.

Installing 

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

-- Install the clutch slave cylinder and tighten the bolts -arrows B- to specification. Refer to Tightening Specifications .

-- Insert the hose/line assembly to the clutch slave cylinder.

-- Pull on the hose/line assembly to make sure it is secure.

-- Push the hose/line assembly clip all the way in.

-- Install the transmission support and tighten the bolts -arrows A- to specification. Refer to Tightening Specifications .

-- Bleed the clutch system after installing the clutch slave cylinder. Refer to CLUTCH SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

Assemble the shift mechanism. Refer to SHIFT AND SELECTOR CABLES, WITH A METAL CABLE BRACKET AND RELAY LEVER .

Adjust the shift mechanism. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .

-- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Removal and Installation .
