Left Front Seat Backrest

NOTE:

Removal and installation is described for left seat. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right seat.

Removal 

-- Mount the VAS 6136 on the VAS 6095.

-- Remove front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT .

-- Attach the seat to the VAS 6136.

-- Remove right trim on seat:

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment 

-- Remove left trim on seat:

Vehicles with Power Backrest Adjustment on the Front Passenger Seat (USA) 

-- Remove right trim on seat. Refer to RIGHT SEAT TRIM PANEL WITH POWER LUMBAR ADJUSTMENT 

Vehicles with Power Seat Adjustment 

-- Remove left power seat trim. Refer to POWER SEAT TRIM, LEFT .

All Vehicles 

-- Disengage retaining straps from backrest cover on underside of seat frame.

-- Disconnect wiring harnesses from side airbag and, if necessary, separate seat heater from seat frame and set wiring harnesses aside.

-- Remove two bolts each on left and right sides -1- and -2- (35 Nm).

NOTE:

The bolts are microencapsulated and must therefore be replaced after every removal.

Before installing the new bolts, the threads of the corresponding nuts must be cleaned.

-- Remove the backrest from the seat frame.

Installation 

-- To install, perform the steps used for removal in reverse order.
