Valve body, removing and installing: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 1995 Volkswagen Jetta III, 1995 Volkswagen Golf III, 1995 Volkswagen Cabrio, 1994 Volkswagen Jetta III, and 1994 Volkswagen Golf III. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

CAUTION: Do not run the engine or tow the vehicle with oil pan removed or when there is no ATF in the transmission.

NOTE:

The valve body can also be removed when the transmission is installed.
On vehicles with 6-cylinder engine, remove starter.
After re-installing the oil pan, fill with ATF. See ATF LEVEL CHECKING AND TOPPING UP .
Always replace a valve body that is fouled or malfunctioning.

- Tightening torque: 12 N.m (9 ft lb)

- Press into gasket

- Tightening torque: 10 N.m (7 ft lb)
- Cable gland
- Insert with O-ring

- Sealing plug
- Take out before removing and installing free wheel
- Insert so that plug is located in groove on housing. See Installing sealing plug .
- Place O-rings onto sealing plug
