Removal [09/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. SECURE STEERING WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  4. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  5. SEPARATE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  6. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    for M20A-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

    for 2ZR-FXE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

    for G16E-GTS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  9. REMOVE PIN HOLD CLIP (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  10. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RETAINER (for G16E-GTS) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 32

  11. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2024 - ]

  12. DRAIN WASHER FLUID (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. REMOVE INLET HOSE (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  14. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WASHER JAR ASSEMBLY (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER AIR GUIDE (for G16E-GTS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  16. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (for G16E-GTS)

      Remove the 3 clips.

    2. Remove the 2 screw.
    3. Remove the screw.

    4. Remove the clip and rear engine under cover LH from the vehicle.
  17. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH (except G16E-GTS) 

    for M20A-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

    for 2ZR-FXE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  18. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 

    for M20A-FKS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

    for G16E-GTS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  19. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (except G16E-GTS) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear side rail reinforcement sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly and vehicle body.

  20. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (except G16E-GTS) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  21. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for G16E-GTS) 
    1. w/o Oil Cooler:

      1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear side rail reinforcement sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly and vehicle body.
    2. w/ Oil Cooler:

      1. Remove the 6 bolts and rear side rail reinforcement sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, the oil cooler bracket and vehicle body.
  22. REMOVE REAR SIDE RAIL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for G16E-GTS) 
    1. w/o Sub Radiator:
      1. Remove the 6 bolts and rear side rail reinforcement sub-assembly RH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, the No. 1 air tube and vehicle body.

    2. w/ Sub Radiator:
      1. Remove the 8 bolts and rear side rail reinforcement sub-assembly RH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, the No. 1 air tube, No. 1 radiator bracket and vehicle body.

  23. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the nut and separate front stabilizer link assembly LH from the front stabilizer bar.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the boot of the ball joint.

      HINT: 

      If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench to hold the stud bolt.

  24. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  25. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  27. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  28. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  29. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY (except G16E-GTS) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 wire harness clamp brackets from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    2. Using a transmission jack and a wooden block, support the engine assembly with transaxle.

      WARNING:
      • Support the engine assembly with transaxle until the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is installed.
      • If the support is removed before the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is installed, the engine assembly with transaxle may drop.

    3. Remove the bolt and separate the engine moving control rod.

    4. Support the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

      WARNING:
      • The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
      • If the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.

      NOTE:

      Use attachments to keep the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly level.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    6. Slowly lower the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  30. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for G16E-GTS) 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    2. Disengage the clamp and disconnect the wire harness from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
    3. Disengage the 2 clamps and disconnect the wire harness from the No. 2 steering rack housing bracket.

    4. Using a transmission jack and a wooden block, support the engine assembly with transaxle.

    5. Remove the bolt and separate the engine moving control rod.

    6. Support the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

    7. Remove the 4 bolts and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    8. Slowly lower the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  31. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

  32. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH (except G16E-GTS)

  33. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH (except G16E-GTS) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  34. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BRACKET (for G16E-GTS)

  35. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR

  36. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD 
    1. Remove the bolt and engine moving control rod from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  37. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  38. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  39. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PLATE (except G16E-GTS) 
    1. Remove the 2 front suspension member plates from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

      There are 2 different shapes of hole plug.

  41. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT GUARD LH (w/ Differential Support Guard) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front differential support guard LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
