Removal [04/2020 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE WATER OUTLET

      *1 No. 9 Water By-pass Hose
      *2 No. 4 Water By-pass Hose

      Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose from the EGR valve assembly with EGR cooler.

    2. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 9 water by-pass hose from the purge valve.
    3. Remove the 2 nuts, water outlet and water outlet gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
  2. REMOVE EGR PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and EGR pipe assembly, EGR pipe gasket and inlet EGR gasket.

  3. REMOVE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY WITH EGR COOLER 
    1. Remove the bolt and 4 nuts.

      *a Stud Bolt
      Bolt
      Nut
    2. Using an E8 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts and EGR valve assembly with EGR cooler from the cylinder head sub-assembly and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
    3. Remove the EGR cooler gasket.
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  5. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  6. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD (TWC: Front Catalyst) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  7. DISCONNECT VENTILATION HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  8. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  9. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  10. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  11. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the water by-pass pipe from the water inlet sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
  12. REMOVE PURGE VALVE (PURGE VSV) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  13. REMOVE FUEL VAPOR FEED PIPE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel vapor feed pipe from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

  14. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 DELIVERY PIPE SPACER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  16. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  17. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and remove the ventilation hose from the PCV valve (ventilation valve sub-assembly).

  18. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  19. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover sub-assembly.
