DTC P1586: Acceleration Sensor Malfunction [01/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC U0129 is not output A
      DTC U0129 is output B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [03/2019 - 09/2019]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2019 - 04/2020]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [04/2020 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1586) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the Techstream on.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Perform a road test where the vehicle is driven at 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the brakes are applied at least 16 times and the vehicle is finally stopped.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

    7. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P1586 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

      Only DTC P1586 is output A
      DTC P1586 and other DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2019 - 11/2022]

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (G SENSOR) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      • 2.31 to 2.69 V: Vehicle on level ground
      • 1.88 to 2.5 V: Decelerating
      • 2.5 to 3.11 V: Accelerating
      • Stuck at 1.87 V: G sensor malfunction
      • Stuck at 1.87 V: Communication malfunction

    REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [01/2019 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2022 - ]

  4. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the airbag sensor assembly.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to COMPONENTS [09/2022 - 11/2022]
