Adjustment [03/2019 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
      WARNING:
      • Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to neutral, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. REMOVE BATTERY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  5. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  6. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [06/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 [09/2019 - 09/2022]

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [06/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [09/2019 - ]

  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  11. REMOVE ECM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  12. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [03/2019 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19 [09/2019 - 06/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19 [06/2021 - 09/2022]

  13. ADJUST TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    • After the floor shift lever assembly or the transmission control cable assembly is replaced, be sure to adjust the transmission control cable assembly.
    • If the shift lever does not move (or the shift lever is difficult to move) to the 1st or 2nd position, or if it is possible to move the shift lever to the reverse position without pulling up the slider shaft, the length of the transmission control cable assembly must be adjusted.
    1. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control select cable from the floor shift lever assembly.

    2. Push the 2 claws together at the top of the lock piece. While holding the 2 claws together, push the 2 lugs on the bottom of the lock piece toward each other and upward to push up the lock piece.

    3. Connect the transmission control select cable to the floor shift lever assembly and install the clip.

      NOTE:
      • Securely install the end of the floor shift transmission control select cable to the floor shift lever assembly.
      • Install the end of the floor shift transmission control select cable so that its adjustment lock section is on the driver side.
    4. Align the hole of the outer select lever with the hole in the manual transmission case.

    5. Insert a bolt into the aligned holes to secure the outer select lever in place.
      NOTE:

      Do not push in the bolt forcefully or damage the front transaxle case.

      HINT: 

      • Use a bolt with a diameter of 6 mm (0.236 in.) and a length of at least 36 mm (1.42 in.).
      • Depending on the bolt diameter, it may be difficult to insert the bolt. In that case, use a bolt with a diameter smaller than 6 mm (0.236 in.).
    6. Push the slider shaft against the cam wall.

      NOTE:
      • Do not pull up the slider shaft.
      • When adjusting the transmission control select cable, make sure that the shift lever is not in 1st or 2nd.
    7. Push the lock piece into the adjuster case.

      NOTE:
      • Securely push in the lock piece until the 2 claws are engaged.
      • When adjusting the transmission control select cable, make sure that the shift lever is not in 1st or 2nd.
    8. Remove the bolt to release the select outer lever.

  14. INSTALL BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 55 [03/2019 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 55 [09/2019 - 06/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 55 [06/2021 - 09/2022]

  15. INSTALL ECM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  16. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  18. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [06/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [09/2019 - 11/2022]

  19. INSTALL INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [06/2018 - 09/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [09/2019 - 11/2022]

  20. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  21. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  22. INSTALL BATTERY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2018 - 09/2022]

  23. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
