Removal [09/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [09/2022 - ]

  2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  5. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  6. DRAIN ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE OIL PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 6 WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. REMOVE OIL FILTER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  11. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  12. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  14. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR TUBE (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 38

  16. REMOVE NO. 4 AIR HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 39

  17. REMOVE NO. 5 AIR HOSE (for Automatic Transaxle) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 40

  18. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER (for Automatic Transaxle)

      Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the transmission oil cooler from the oil cooler bracket.

      Disengage the clamp.

  19. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE (for Automatic Transaxle)

      Disengage the 2 clamps.

    2. Remove the bolt and disengage the guide and disconnect the engine wire.
  20. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER 
    1. Disengage the claw as shown in the illustration to remove the flywheel housing side cover.

  21. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the starter assembly connector.

    2. Open the terminal cap.
    3. Disengage the clamp to separate the engine wire.

    4. Remove the nut and disconnect the engine wire from terminal 30.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and starter assembly from the cylinder block sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

      Make sure that the flywheel housing under cover is securely installed.

    6. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the starter assembly.
