Installation [03/2017 - 06/2017]: Procedure
- INSTALL REAR NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the rear No. 2 engine mounting insulator is necessary.
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11
- INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine mounting bracket sub-assembly LH is necessary.
- INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING SPACER
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine mounting spacer is necessary.
- INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH is necessary.
- Install the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH with the 2 bolts and nut.
Torque: 72 N.m (734 kgf/cm, 53 ft.lbf)
NOTE:Temporarily tighten the bolt (A), and then fully tighten the 2 bolts and nut in the order of (B), (A) and (C).
- Engage the clamp.
- Connect the No. 2 earth wire to the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH with the bolt.
Torque: 9.5 N.m (97 kgf/cm, 84 in.lbf)
- Connect the bracket to the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the radiator reserve tank assembly with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf/cm, 44 in.lbf)
- Engage the No. 6 water by-pass hose.
- Install the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH with the 2 bolts and nut.
- INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 42
- REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY FROM ENGINE STAND
- Remove the engine assembly from the engine stand.
- INSTALL ENGINE WIRE
- Install the engine wire to the engine assembly.
- INSTALL NO. 1 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PLATE

- INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR
HINT:
Perform this procedure only when replacement of the front engine mounting insulator is necessary.
- Install the front engine mounting insulator to the front frame assembly with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 72 N.m (734 kgf/cm, 53 ft.lbf)
- Install the front engine mounting insulator to the front frame assembly with the 3 nuts.
- INSTALL FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY
- Install the rear engine mounting insulator to the front frame assembly with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 72 N.m (734 kgf/cm, 53 ft.lbf)
- Install the front engine mounting insulator to the front engine mounting bracket with the bolt.
Torque: 72 N.m (734 kgf/cm, 53 ft.lbf)
- Install the rear engine mounting insulator to the front frame assembly with the 4 nuts.
- CONNECT WIRE HARNESS

- INSTALL STEERING GEAR HEAT INSULATOR
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7
- INSTALL BREATHER PLUG HOSE
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19
- CONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL FLOW SHUTTING VALVE (NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE)

- CONNECT VACUUM HOSE

- INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT

- INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER
- Install the flywheel housing under cover to the cylinder block sub-assembly.
- INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
HINT:
Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the engine assembly.

- Set the engine assembly with transaxle on an engine lifter.NOTE:
- Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the engine assembly with transaxle level.
- Do not perform any procedures while the engine assembly is suspended because doing so may cause the engine assembly to drop, resulting in injury. However, the engine assembly needs to be suspended when it is installed to or removed from an engine stand.
- Remove the 4 bolts, No. 1 engine hanger and No. 2 engine hanger.
- Install the fuel delivery guard to the engine mounting bracket RH with the bolt.
Torque: 40 N.m (408 kgf/cm, 30 ft.lbf)
- Operate the engine lifter and install the engine assembly with transaxle to the vehicle.WARNING:
Do not raise the engine assembly with transaxle more than necessary. If the engine is raised excessively, the vehicle may also be lifted up.
NOTE:- Make sure that the engine assembly with transaxle is clear of all wiring and hoses.
- While raising the engine assembly with transaxle into the vehicle, do not allow it to contact the vehicle.
- Install the front bumper extension sub-assembly RH and front bumper extension sub-assembly LH to the front frame assembly and vehicle body with the 8 bolts.

Torque: 12.5 N.m (127 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf)

Torque: 135 N.m (1377 kgf/cm, 100 ft.lbf)
- Install the front suspension member bracket sub-assembly RH and front suspension member bracket sub-assembly LH to the front frame assembly and vehicle body with the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.
Bolt (D)
Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf)
Bolt (E)
Torque: 135 N.m (1377 kgf/cm, 100 ft.lbf)
Nut
Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Install the rear No. 2 engine mounting insulator to the engine mounting bracket LH with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf/cm, 31 ft.lbf)
NOTE:While holding the bolt in place, tighten the nut.
- Install the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly RH to the engine mounting bracket RH with the 3 bolts and nut.

Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf/cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the body mounting plate with the 6 bolts.
Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Engage the clamp.
- Set the engine assembly with transaxle on an engine lifter.
- INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

- INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst)
Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2017 - 03/2020]
- CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11
- CONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
- Engage the clamp.
- Connect the No. 5 water by-pass hose to the No. 3 water by-pass pipe and slide the clip to secure it.
- CONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Connect the wire harness to the body with the bolt.
Bolt (A)
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Connect the earth wire to the automatic transaxle assembly with the bolt.
Bolt (B)
Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf)
- Connect the wire harness to the positive (+) battery terminal with the nut.
Nut (C)
Torque: 7.6 N.m (77 kgf/cm, 67 in.lbf)
- Engage the 3 clamps.
- Engage the claw to install the wire harness to the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
- Connect the 4 connectors to the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
- Install the nut to the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the No. 1 relay block cover to the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
- Connect the wire harness to the body with the bolt.
- CONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

- CONNECT SUCTION HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY

- CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
- Connect the No. 2 radiator hose to the water inlet and slide the clip to secure it.
- CONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
- Connect the No. 1 radiator hose to the water outlet and slide the clip to secure it.
- Connect the No. 1 radiator hose to the No. 1 radiator bracket with the clamp.
- CONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
- Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly to the fuel pipe.
Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2017 - 06/2017]
- Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly to the fuel pipe.
- Install the No. 1 fuel pipe clamp to the fuel tube connector.
- Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
- CONNECT INLET HEATER HOSE
- Align the protrusions of the inlet heater hose connector with the cutouts in the flow shutting valve (water by-pass hose assembly) and push them together until the inlet heater hose connector makes a "click" sound.

*a Retainer Push Push in - Check that the flow shutting valve (water by-pass hose assembly) and inlet heater hose connector are securely connected by pulling on them.
- Align the protrusions of the inlet heater hose connector with the cutouts in the flow shutting valve (water by-pass hose assembly) and push them together until the inlet heater hose connector makes a "click" sound.
- CONNECT OUTLET HEATER HOSE
- Align the protrusion of the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly with the cutout in the outlet heater hose connector and push them together until the outlet heater hose makes a "click" sound.

*a Retainer Push Push in - Check that the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly and outlet heater hose connector are securely connected by pulling on them.
- Align the protrusion of the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly with the cutout in the outlet heater hose connector and push them together until the outlet heater hose makes a "click" sound.
- CONNECT UNION TO CHECK VALVE HOSE
- Connect the union to check valve hose to the vacuum pump assembly and slide the clip to secure it.
- CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE
- Connect the No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose to the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly and slide the clip to secure it.
- CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.
- Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control shaft lever as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
Before installing the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch assembly and shift lever are in N.

- INSTALL BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the battery clamp sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 18.5 N.m (189 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf)
- Engage the 4 clamps to the battery clamp sub-assembly.
- Install the battery clamp sub-assembly with the 3 bolts.
- INSTALL BATTERY

- INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
- Install the air cleaner assembly with air cleaner hose to the throttle body with motor assembly and unlock the hose clip to secure it as shown in the illustration.NOTE:
Align the cutout of the air cleaner hose with the protrusion of the throttle body with motor assembly.

- Fit the pin of the air cleaner assembly with air cleaner hose into the air cleaner support as shown in the illustration.
*a Air Cleaner Support NOTE:- Insert the 3 pins of the air cleaner assembly into the 3 air cleaner supports at the same time.
- Check that the pins are securely inserted into air cleaner supports.
- Engage the vacuum hose to the air cleaner hose.
- Engage the 3 wire harness clamps.
- Connect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly connector.
- Install the air cleaner assembly with air cleaner hose to the throttle body with motor assembly and unlock the hose clip to secure it as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL INLET AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
- Install the inlet air cleaner assembly with the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf/cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the inlet air cleaner assembly with the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- INSPECT VACUUM HOSES
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

- INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH
- Install the front fender apron seal LH with the 2 screws and clip.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf)
- Install the front fender apron seal LH with the 2 screws and clip.
- INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH
- Install the front fender apron seal RH with the 2 screws and clip.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf)
- Install the front fender apron seal RH with the 2 screws and clip.
- INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY
- Install the No. 2 engine under cover assembly with the 4 screws and 6 clips.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf/cm, 66 in.lbf)
- Install the No. 2 engine under cover assembly with the 4 screws and 6 clips.
- INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
- Install the No. 1 engine under cover with the bolt, 6 screws and 2 clips.

- Install the No. 1 engine under cover with the bolt, 6 screws and 2 clips.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH
- Install the front wheel opening extension pad LH with the 3 screws.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD RH
- Install the front wheel opening extension pad RH with the 3 screws.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

- ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
