Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX CUP HOLDER 
    1. Install the No. 2 console box cup holder.

  2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL CUP HOLDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the instrument panel cup holder assembly with the 4 screws <F>.

  3. INSTALL NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY 
    1. Engage the claw and install the 5 No. 3 instrument panel stays.

  4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 5 claws.
      NOTE:

      Do not allow the wire harness to get caught in the claws.

    2. Install the 2 bolts <D> and nut <G>.
    3. Install the 2 clips.

    4. Engage each clamp.
    5. Install the 2 passenger airbag bolts <A>.

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    6. Connect each connector and install the instrument panel safety pad assembly.

  5. CONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  6. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.

    2. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 1 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
  8. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.

    2. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and install the No. 2 instrument panel speaker panel sub-assembly.
  10. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 96
  11. CONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 97
  12. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 87
  13. CONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 88
  14. INSTALL POWER SWITCH (w/ Smart Key System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  15. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Engage the claw and 2 guides.

    2. Install the front No. 2 console box insert with the 3 screws <E> and clip.
  16. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT 
    1. Engage the claw and 2 guides.

    2. Install the front No. 1 console box insert with the 3 screws <E> and 2 clips.
  17. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  18. INSTALL LOWER REAR CONSOLE BOX  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  19. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Engage the 4 claws and 4 clips, and install the upper console panel sub-assembly.
  20. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect each connector and clamp.
    2. Engage the 4 claws and 3 clips.

    3. Install the lower instrument panel sub-assembly with the 2 bolts <B> and 3 screws <E>.
  21. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 guides.

    2. Engage the 3 claws and install the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
  22. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 98
  23. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 99
  24. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect the hood lock control cable assembly.
    2. for Automatic Air Conditioning System:

      Connect the aspirator duct.

    3. Connect each connector.
    4. Engage the 3 claws and 10 clips.

    5. Install the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly with the 2 bolts <B>.
  25. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 89
  26. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 90
  27. INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/o Navigation System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  28. INSTALL NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/ Navigation System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  29. INSTALL HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  30. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  31. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Smart Key System) 
    1. Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Engage the 10 claws and 8 clips, and install the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not the damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  32. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Smart Key System) 
    1. Apply protective tape to the areas shown in the illustration.

    2. Connect each connector.
    3. Engage the 10 claws and 8 clips, and install the center instrument cluster finish panel assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not the damage the instrument panel safety pad assembly and lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.

  33. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 claws and 5 clips, and install the center instrument panel register assembly.

  34. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Install the combination meter assembly with the 4 screws <E>.

  35. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 4 claws and 4 clips, and install the instrument cluster finish panel assembly.

  36. POSITION FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  37. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  38. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 8
  39. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  40. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  41. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  42. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  43. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  44. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  45. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  46. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 119
  47. INSTALL DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 120
  48. INSPECT STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  49. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 

    Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
