Back Door: Disassembly

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE BACK DOOR GRIP 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and back door grip.
  3. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 lower back door stopper cushions.

  4. REMOVE CENTER BACK DOOR GARNISH 
    1. Detach the 5 clips and 2 claws, and remove the back door garnish.
  5. REMOVE CENTER STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  6. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH 
    1. Detach the 3 clips and remove the back door side garnish.
  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  8. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 14 clips and remove the back door garnish.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  9. REMOVE REAR HEADER SPEAKER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  10. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM 
    1. Open the cover.
    2. Remove the nut and rear wiper arm.

  11. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET 
    1. Remove the wiper motor grommet.

  12. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and rear wiper motor assembly.

  13. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK COVER 
    1. Detach the 4 claws and remove the back door lock cover.

  14. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and back door lock.
  15. REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT LENS  (See REMOVAL )

  16. REMOVE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connector and then remove the back door opener switch.
  17. REMOVE REAR TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  18. REMOVE LIFT GATE WEATHERSTRIP 
    1. Detach the 25 clips and remove the lift gate weatherstrip.
      NOTE: Do not pull strongly on the weatherstrip as it may tear.

  19. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR STOPPER 
    1. Remove the bolt and lower back door stopper.
  20. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE  (See REMOVAL )
  21. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Spoiler)  (See REMOVAL )

  22. REMOVE REAR WASHER NOZZLE 
    1. Disconnect the hose.

    2. Detach the 2 claws and remove the washer nozzle.
  23. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL  )
  24. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  25. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT REAR SUPPORT PLATE  (See REMOVAL )

  26. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH 
    1. Remove the back door trim cover LH as shown in the illustration.

  27. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH 
    1. Remove the back door trim cover RH as shown in the illustration.

  28. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts.
    2. Detach the 16 clips and remove the back door trim cover.
  29. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER 
    1. Remove the bumper cover (See REMOVAL ).
  30. REMOVE SPARE TIRE

  31. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR TORSION BAR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and lower back door torsion bar.

  32. REMOVE BACK DOOR TORSION BAR GUIDE 
    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the back door torsion bar guide.

  33. REMOVE BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the screw and back door inside handle.
    2. Remove the back door handle grommet.

  34. REMOVE LOWER TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws and lower tail gate lock.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the lower tail gate lock.

  35. REMOVE BACK DOOR REMOTE CONTROL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disconnect the left side cable.
    3. Remove the back door remote control.

  36. REMOVE LOWER TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws and lower tail gate lock.

  37. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate stay.
  38. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
