Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal

  1. BOLTS, SCREWS AND NUTS TABLE 

    HINT:

    All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

    1. Remove of bolts, screws and nuts table.
    NOTE: Be sure to tape the tip of the screwdriver when using it to disengage the meshing of the clips and claws.

  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, then remove the meter hood sub-assembly.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  7. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws, then remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.

  9. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the No. 3 register assembly and No. 1 register assembly.

  10. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
  11. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Disconnect the connector, then remove the upper console panel.

  12. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB 
  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the screw < J> or < O>.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips and 4 claws, then remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tips before use.

    3. Disconnect the connectors.
    NOTE: Do not pull the lid of auxiliary box.

  14. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 claws < K>.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 clips and 4 claws, then remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Disconnect the connectors.

  15. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle) 
    1. Remove the screw < l> from the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.
    2. Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
    3. Pull the glove compartment door assembly upward to remove it.

  16. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Disengage the clip.
    2. Pull the front pillar garnish LH upward and disengage the 2 claws, then remove the front pillar garnish LH.

  17. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  18. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  19. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt < D> or < M> and 2 screws < J>.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 3 clips and 8 claws.
    3. Remove the upper instrument panel sub-assembly.
  20. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  21. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  22. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  23. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  24. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clip then remove the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.

  25. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws, then remove the parking brake hole cover sub-assembly.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  26. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  27. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. for Automatic transaxle:
      1. Remove the 2 bolts < F> or < N>, 4 screws < J> or < O> and rear console box sub-assembly.
    2. for Manual transaxle:
      1. Remove the 2 bolts < F> or < N>, 2 screws < J> or < O> and rear console box sub-assembly.

  28. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  29. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  30. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 
    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Disengage the clip, then remove the cowl side trim board LH.

  31. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  32. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the DLC3 connector.
    2. Remove the hood lock control lever.
    3. Remove the 3 screws < G> or < H>.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts < E> or < N>.
    5. Remove the bolts < A> or.
    6. Remove the bolts < C>.
    7. Remove the 8 clips and lower instrument panel sub-assembly.
