Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal
- BOLTS, SCREWS AND NUTS TABLE
HINT:
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.
- Remove of bolts, screws and nuts table.
NOTE: Be sure to tape the tip of the screwdriver when using it to disengage the meshing of the clips and claws. - DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
- PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- REMOVE STEERING PAD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the clip.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, then remove the meter hood sub-assembly.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws, then remove the No. 1 instrument panel register assembly.
- REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the No. 3 register assembly and No. 1 register assembly.
- REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transaxle)
- Turn the shift lever knob sub-assembly counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
- REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connector, then remove the upper console panel.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 6 claws.
- REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL
- Remove the screw < J> or < O>.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips and 4 claws, then remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tips before use.
- Disconnect the connectors.
NOTE: Do not pull the lid of auxiliary box. - REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 claws < K>.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 clips and 4 claws, then remove the center instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Disconnect the connectors.
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transaxle)
- Remove the screw < l> from the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.
- Deform the upper part of the glove compartment door assembly to release the stoppers.
- Pull the glove compartment door assembly upward to remove it.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
- Disengage the clip.
- Pull the front pillar garnish LH upward and disengage the 2 claws, then remove the front pillar garnish LH.
- REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt < D> or < M> and 2 screws < J>.
- Using a molding remover, disengage the 3 clips and 8 claws.
- Remove the upper instrument panel sub-assembly.
- REMOVE HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disengage the clip then remove the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws, then remove the parking brake hole cover sub-assembly.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws, then remove the parking brake hole cover sub-assembly.
- REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
- REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY
- for Automatic transaxle:
- Remove the 2 bolts < F> or < N>, 4 screws < J> or < O> and rear console box sub-assembly.
- for Manual transaxle:
- Remove the 2 bolts < F> or < N>, 2 screws < J> or < O> and rear console box sub-assembly.
- for Automatic transaxle:
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 7 claws, then remove the front door scuff plate LH.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
- Remove the clip.
- Disengage the clip, then remove the cowl side trim board LH.
- REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the DLC3 connector.
- Remove the hood lock control lever.
- Remove the 3 screws < G> or < H>.
- Remove the 2 bolts < E> or < N>.
- Remove the bolts < A> or.
- Remove the bolts < C>.
- Remove the 8 clips and lower instrument panel sub-assembly.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX SPRING
