Front Axle Hub Sub-ASSY LH: Replacement

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT (SEE OVERHAUL )
SST 09930-00010
SEPARATE SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assy LH from the steering knuckle LH.
  NOTE: Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.

REMOVE FRONT DISC (SEE OVERHAUL )
SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSY LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
SST 09628-62011
SEPARATE FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO.1 LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSY LH
1. Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assy LH and the front axle hub sub-assy LH.
2. Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assy LH from the front axle hub sub-assy LH.
  NOTE: Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.

3. Remove the 2 bolts, nuts and steering knuckle LH with the front axle hub sub-assy LH.

REMOVE FRONT WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR NO.1 LH
1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front wheel bearing dust deflector No.1 LH.

REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH HOLE SNAP RING
1. Using snap ring pliers, remove the front axle hub LH hole snap ring.

REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSY LH
1. Using SST, remove the front axle hub sub-assy LH.

2. Using SST and a press, remove the bearing inner race (outside) from the front axle hub sub-assy LH.
  SST 09950- 00020, 09950- 60010 (09951 - 00430), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

REMOVE DISC BRAKE DUST COVER FRONT LH
1. Using a torx wrench (T30), remove the 4 bolts and disc brake dust cover front LH.
REMOVE LOWER BALL JOINT ASSY FRONT LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
SST 09628-62011
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB LH BEARING
1. Place the bearing inner race (outside) on the front axle hub LH bearing.
2. Using SST and a press, press the front axle hub LH bearing until it comes into contact with the SST.

3. Using a wrench to make the steering knuckle LH horizontal, fix it to the V block, as shown in the illustration.
  NOTE: Be sure the steering knuckle is horizontally positioned.
4. Using SST and a press, remove the front axle hub LH bearing.

INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH BEARING
1. Using SST and a press, install a new front axle hub LH bearing to the steering knuckle LH.
  SST 09950-60020 (09951-00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

INSTALL LOWER BALL JOINT ASSY FRONT LH (SEE REPLACEMENT )
INSTALL DISC BRAKE DUST COVER FRONT LH
1. Place the disc brake dust cover front LH and use a torx wrench (T30) to torque the 4 bolts.
  Torque: 8.3 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 73 in.lbf)
INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSY LH
1. Using SST and a press, install the front axle hub sub-assy LH.
  SST 09608-32010, 09950-60020 (09951-00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07100)

INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH HOLE SNAP RING
1. Using snap ring pliers, install a new front axle hub LH hole snap ring.

INSTALL FRONT WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR NO.1 LH
1. (a) Using SST and a hammer, install a new bearing dust deflector No.1 LH.
  SST 09316-60011 (09316-00011, 09316-00031), 09608-32010
  
  HINT:
  
  Align the hole for the speed sensor in the bearing dust deflector No.1 LH with the steering knuckle.

INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSY LH
1. Align the matchmarks and install the front drive shaft assy LH to the front axle hub sub-assy LH.

2. Install the steering knuckle LH with the front axle hub sub-assy LH to the shock absorber assy front LH with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
  Torque: 210 N.m (2,140 kgf.cm, 155 ft.lbf)
  NOTE:
  - Only when reusing the bolts and nuts, apply a small amount of engine oil to the threads of the nuts.
  - Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.

INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO.1 LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSY LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
INSTALL FRONT DISC (SEE OVERHAUL )
INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Install the front disc brake caliper assy LH to the steering knuckle LH with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 107 N.m (1,090 kgf.cm, 79 ft.lbf)
  
  NOTE: Do not twist the brake hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assy LH.

INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT
1. Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new axle hub LH nut.
  Torque: 294 N.m (3,000 kgf.cm, 217 ft.lbf)
  
  HINT:
  
  Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout through the following steps.
SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assy LH from the steering knuckle LH.
  NOTE: Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
REMOVE FRONT DISC
INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
INSTALL FRONT DISC (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSY LH
1. Install the front disc brake caliper assy LH with the 2 bolts to the steering knuckle LH.
  Torque: 107 N.m (1,090 kgf.cm, 79 ft.lbf)
  
  NOTE: Do not twist the brake hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assy LH.
INSTALL SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH (SEE OVERHAUL )
INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB LH NUT
1. Using a chisel and hammer, stake the axle hub LH nut.

INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT (SEE ADJUSTMENT )
CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
1. ABS WITH EBD & TRAC & VSC SYSTEM (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
2. ABS WITH EBD SYSTEM (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
