HVAC System (Heater, Ventilator And A/C) (Service Information): Evaporator: Removal
CAUTION:
Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION
.
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY
.NOTE: For model with battery sensor, disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor.
- Using the refrigerant recovery system, discharge refrigerant. Refer to HVAC SYSTEM (HEATER, VENTILATOR AND A/C)>REFRIGERANT RECOVERY PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE .
- Remove the intercooler.
- Except for STI model: Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (W/O STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
- STI model: Refer to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (STI)>INTERCOOLER>REMOVAL .
- Remove the expansion valve - cooling. Refer to HVAC SYSTEM (HEATER, VENTILATOR AND A/C)>EXPANSION VALVE>REMOVAL .
- Remove the glove box. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>GLOVE BOX>REMOVAL .
- Remove the engine control module (ECM). (STI model) Refer to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (STI)>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)>REMOVAL .
- Remove the blower motor unit assembly. Refer to HVAC SYSTEM (HEATER, VENTILATOR AND A/C)>BLOWER MOTOR UNIT ASSEMBLY>REMOVAL .
- Remove the evaporator assembly - cooling.
- Disconnect the connector and lock of the thermostat - cooling.
- Remove the screws and detach the cover.
- Remove the cover - heater unit.
- Disconnect the power transistor connector.
- Remove the screws and clips to remove the cover - heater unit.
- Remove the bolt, and detach the pipe - evaporator core.CAUTION: Seal the disconnected pipe and engaging part of evaporator assembly with a plug or vinyl tape to prevent foreign matter from entering.
Preparation tool:
Hexagon wrench: 4 mm (0.16 in)
- Remove the evaporator assembly - cooling.
- Remove the thermostat - cooling.
