Transmission Assembly: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING:
The hybrid system includes a high voltage circuit. Mishandling could cause accidents such as electric shock or leak. Always check "WARNING (HYBRID SYSTEM)" and perform the proper operation. Ref. to PRECAUTION/WARNING>Warning (HYBRID SYSTEM)
.
- Release the parking brake.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the service disconnect plug. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG>REMOVAL
.WARNING: After removal of the service disconnect plug, the condenser inside the inverter still has been charged to a high voltage. Wait for at least 10 minutes before handling the high voltage components, wiring, terminals or connectors.
- Release the shift lock using a screwdriver, etc. and shift the select lever to the "N" range.
- Remove the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE BOOT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the engine rear hanger.
- Disconnect the inhibitor harness connector.
- Disconnect the engine ground, and then remove the engine wiring harness stay.
- Disconnect the ground cable.
- Disconnect the ground cord.
- Remove the pitching stopper. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>REMOVAL>PITCHING STOPPER .
- Set the ST1 and ST2.
Preparation tool:
ST1: ENGINE SUPPORT BRACKET (41099AA012)
ST2: ENGINE SUPPORT (41099AA020)
- Remove the bolts which hold the upper side of the transmission.
- Drain the ATF. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID>REPLACEMENT .
- Drain differential gear oil. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TH2A)>DIFFERENTIAL GEAR OIL>REPLACEMENT .
- Remove the propeller shaft. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>PROPELLER SHAFT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the front drive shaft. Ref. to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>FRONT DRIVE SHAFT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the inhibitor cover.
- Disconnect the select cable from the transmission main body.CAUTION: Do not apply excessive load while holding the part (a).
- Remove the CVTF CVT inlet hose and CVTF CVT outlet hose.
- Remove the exhaust hanger bracket.
- Set the transmission jack.CAUTION: Make sure that the support plates of transmission jack do not touch the oil pan.NOTE: Place wooden block or similar items at the transmission rear to adjust the height.
- Remove the clips and disconnect the inhibitor harness connector.
- Remove the transmission rear crossmember.
- While lowering the transmission jack a little at a time, tilt the transmission body to a position where the power cable connector can be disconnected.CAUTION: Be careful not to lower the transmission body too far because there is the risk of damage to peripheral parts.
- Disconnect the power cable.WARNING: Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- Disconnect the power cable terminal (MG1).CAUTION:
- Be careful not to use excessive force when disconnecting the power cable terminal to avoid any damage.
- Be sure to insulate the disconnected power cable terminals by wrapping it with insulating tape.
- Apply tape or similar item (that will not leave adhesive residue) to close the opening after the terminal was disconnected so that foreign matter, water drops, or other substance does not enter.
- Remove the bolts, then remove the guard - power cable MG1.
- Release the claws and remove the cover - power connector.WARNING: Be sure to use insulated tools.
- Measure the voltage of the high voltage line between power cable terminals.
Preparation tool:
