DTC P058A-01: Auxiliary Battery Monitor Module General Electrical Failure: Notes
1. -
Outline of diagnosis:
Any of the following conditions is met with the power switch on (IG). (1 trip detection logic):
- Current is 999.939 A or more, or -1000 A or less for 3.2 seconds or more.
- The difference between the maximum and minimum current is 0.0305 A or less for 100 seconds or more.
- A current detection circuit malfunction signal is received.
- The Battery (12V) temperature is 105°C (221°F) or more or -40°C (-40°F) or less for 3.2 seconds or more.
- A temperature detection circuit malfunction signal is received.
- Voltage is 15.98 V or more, or 6.0 V or less for 3.2 seconds or more.
- A voltage detection circuit malfunction signal is received.
- A writing error occurs in the Battery (12V) state sensor internal memory (battery identification data).
Trouble symptom:
DC/DC Converter command fixed

- Before performing diagnosis, check the fuse in this circuit. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>RELAY AND FUSE .
- When DTC P162B87 is detected simultaneously, perform the diagnosis for P162B87 first. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)>DTC P162B87 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH AUXILIARY BATTERY MONITOR MODULE MISSING MESSAGE .
- CHECK INSTALLATION CONDITION OF Battery (12V) sensor
.
Check the installation condition of Battery (12V) sensor. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .
Is Battery (12V) sensor securely installed?
Yes : Go to 2.
No : Securely install Battery (12V) sensor.
- CHECK CONNECTION CONDITION OF CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor CONNECTOR)
.
Check the connecting condition of connector in Battery (12V) sensor and check the relevant terminals for contact pressure, deformation and intrusion of water or foreign matter. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .
Is there looseness at the connector connection, or any poor contact, deformation or intrusion of water or foreign matters at the relevant terminals?
Yes : Connect the connector securely. Or repair the poor contact of connector.
No : Go to 3.
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Battery (12V) sensor - Battery (12V))
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the Battery (12V) sensor connector.
- Using a tester, measure the voltage between Battery (12V) sensor connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B9) No. 1 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage 11 - 14 V?
Yes : Replace Battery (12V) sensor. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (HEV))>BATTERY SENSOR .
No : Repair or replace Wire harness between Battery (12V) sensor connector and chassis ground.
