Heater and Cooling Unit: Removal
CAUTION:
Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to

, General Description.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to
BATTERYNOTE: Repair Contents.
- Using the refrigerant recovery system, discharge refrigerant. Ref. to PROCEDURE , Refrigerant Recovery Procedure.
- Drain the coolant from the radiator.
- H4 model: Ref. to DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT , REPLACEMENT, Engine Coolant.
- H6 model: Ref. to DRAINING OF ENGINE COOLANT , REPLACEMENT, Engine Coolant.
- With the PCV hose connected, remove the air intake boot from the air cleaner case (rear) and throttle body, and move the air intake boot.
- Disconnect the hose - pressure suction.CAUTION: Seal the disconnected hose, pipe and engaging part of expansion valve with a plug or vinyl tape to prevent foreign matter from entering.
- Disconnect the quick connector.
Preparation tool:
ST: SP TL REMOVER PD (73499XA00A)
- Face collar side (A) of the quick connector (1) to the remover (2), and set lock part (B) on the stopper side (C) of the remover.
- Insert the remover.
Do not bend the needle (4) in the remover.
- With the pipe secured, press the label part (D) of the remover with a thumb. Connector is unlocked and the quick connector opens.
- Pull the remover (2) and separate the pipe (3) from the quick connector (1).
- Pull up the stopper (C) and remove the remover (2) and quick connector (1) from the pipe.
- Disconnect the quick connector (1) from the remover (2).
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the bolts and detach the hose - pressure suction.
- Disconnect the quick connector.
- Loosen the heater hose clamps and detach the hoses.
NOTE: Put alignment marks to hoses, clamps, etc.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly and the beam COMPL - steering. Ref. to REMOVAL , Instrument Panel Assembly.
- Remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.
- Remove the clips, and remove the duct - console front.
- Remove the hose - heater drain.
- Turn over the floor carpet and remove the slide lock of the duct - rear heater.
- Remove the bolt and remove the heater and cooling unit assembly.
- Remove the blower motor unit assembly. Ref. to
REMOVAL , Blower Motor Unit Assembly.CAUTION:
- Do not detach the immobilizer control module except when replacing the blower motor unit assembly.
- Replace the air duct cover LWR with a new part when the immobilizer control module is removed. If the air duct cover LWR is reused, screw tightening force is reduced and the immobilizer control module may be detached due to vibration while driving.
