AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Assembly: Removal

- Disconnection of battery ground terminal (refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of under cover front AL (refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of under cover COMPL T/M (refer to REMOVAL )
- Drainage of automatic transmission fluid (refer to REPLACEMENT )
- Removal of propeller shaft W/ center bearing Assembly
(Refer to PROPELLER SHAFT Assembly )
- Removal of stabilizer bar FR
(Refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of starter Assembly
(Refer to REMOVAL )
- Disconnection of wiring harnessNOTE: Secure the disconnected harnesses using tape, etc. to keep them out of the way.
- Release the lock of the connector A to move the lock lever, and disconnect the connector.
- Disconnect the connector B.
- Remove the bolts, then disconnect the ground wire.
- Release the lock of the connector A to move the lock lever, and disconnect the connector.
- Disconnect the connector B and C.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the wiring harness.
- Remove the bolt, and then remove the wiring harness clamp bracket.
- Remove 2 bolts to disconnect the engine hanger No. 2.
- Disconnection of vacuum pipe
- Remove 2 bolts to disconnect the vacuum pipe.
- Removal of flywheel housing under cover
- Remove the flywheel housing under cover.
- Removal of drive plate and torque converter setting bolt
- Use the SST to lock the crankshaft pulley.
SST 18355AA000, 18334AA000
- Remove the six drive plate & torque converter setting bolts through the service hole.
- Install the SST to the converter case.
SST 18750AA010
- Use the SST to lock the crankshaft pulley.
- Disconnection of automatic transmission Assembly
- Remove the 2 bolts connecting the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Removal of exhaust pipe Assembly FR
(Refer to REMOVAL )
- Engine Assembly support
- Remove the air cleaner Assembly W/hose. (Refer to V-BELT (FA20) )
- Install the SST to the engine unit.
SST 12281-38150, 90119-14120
- Disconnect the clip fixing the bulkhead harness to the vehicle.
- Install the SST to the engine and support the engine.
SST 99099AJ000, 18679AA020
CAUTION:- Keep the harness from being caught in when setting the SST on the vehicle.
- Use a shackle with the load capacity of 250 kg or more.
- Rotate the handle on the top of the SST to lift up the engine slightly.
- Removal of transmission oil cooler hose
- Move the 4 hose clamps and remove the 2 transmission oil cooler hoses.CAUTION: Have a container ready for catching fluid remaining in the oil cooler hose.
- Move the 4 hose clamps and remove the 2 transmission oil cooler hoses.
- Disconnection of oil cooler tube
- Remove 2 bolts to disconnect the oil cooler tube.
- Removal of transmission revolution sensor (NT) (refer to REMOVAL )
- Removal of floor shift gear shifting rod Sub-Assembly No. 1
- Remove the snap pin and the shaft, and disconnect the floor shift gear shifting rod Sub-Assembly No. 1 from the control shaft lever RH.
- Remove the nut and remove the floor shift gear shifting rod Sub-Assembly No. 1 from the swivel.
- Remove the grommet and spacer from the control shaft lever RH.
- Removal of exhaust pipe bracket
- Remove 2 bolts to remove the exhaust pipe bracket from the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Automatic transmission Assembly support
- Use the SST to support the automatic transmission Assembly.
SST 18632AA010
- Use the SST to support the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Removal of engine rear mounting member
- Remove 4 bolts, 2 washers, and 2 nuts to remove the engine rear mounting member from the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Removal of engine mounting insulator RR No. 1
- Remove 4 bolts to remove the engine mounting insulator RR No. 1 from the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Removal of automatic transmission Assembly
- Remove 2 bolts and 2 nuts to remove the automatic transmission Assembly.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the knock pin, do not pry apart the contact surface of the automatic transmission Assembly and the engine.
- Remove 2 bolts and 2 nuts to remove the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Removal of wiring harness
- Disconnect the neutral start switch Assembly connector, transmission wire connector, and transmission revolution sensor (SP2) connector.NOTE: Release the claw and tilt the lever downward to disconnect the connector of the transmission wire.
- Release the 6 clamps to remove the wiring harness from the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Disconnect the neutral start switch Assembly connector, transmission wire connector, and transmission revolution sensor (SP2) connector.
- Removal of oil cooler tube
- Move 4 hose clamps and remove the 2 oil cooler hoses.
- Remove 2 bolts to remove the oil cooler tube.
- Removal of torque converter Assembly
- Remove the torque converter Assembly from the automatic transmission Assembly.
- Torque converter Assembly check (refer to INSPECTION )
