Differential Side Retainer Oil Seal: Replacement

- Lift-up the vehicle.
- Drain gear oil from differential oil drain plug.
- Replace with a new gasket and tighten the differential oil drain plug.
Tightening torque:
70 N.m (7.1 kgf-m, 51 ft-lb)
- Remove the front and center exhaust pipe. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Exhaust Pipe. > & REMOVAL , Center Exhaust Pipe. >
- Separate the front drive shaft from transmission. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Drive Shaft. >
- Remove the differential side retainer oil seal.NOTE:
- Be sure to replace the differential side retainer oil seal with a new one after the procedure of removing the front drive shaft from transmission.
- When prying to remove the part using flat tip screwdriver, be careful not to scratch the differential side retainer. ST 398527700 puller assembly may be used for this operation procedure.
- Using the ST, install the differential side retainer by slightly tapping with a plastic hammer.

- Install the front and center exhaust pipe. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Exhaust Pipe. > & INSTALLATION , Center Exhaust Pipe. >
- Lower the vehicle.
- Pour gear oil through the gauge hole. < Ref. to , REPLACEMENT , Transmission Gear Oil. >
