Remove oil from cooling and heating system - AR20.00-P-1250CD

MODIFICATION NOTES

27.9.13 The heater for the vehicle must be set to the highest temperature stage. The heater circuit will not be flushed otherwise, added. Operation step 3  
27.9.13 Mix the cleaner to a 5% flushing solution (10 l water, 0.5 l cleaner), added. Operation step 4  
1.10.13 If required, repeat operation steps 4 and 10, added. Operation step 11

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Drain coolant MODEL 212, 218, 221 with ENGINE 651 AR20.00-P-1142OMA 
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 AR20.00-P-1142OGE 
MODEL 172 with ENGINE 651
MODEL 204, 207 with ENGINE 642, 651
AR20.00-P-1142CW
2 Remove coolant thermostat (20) from thermostat housing Engine 642 AR20.10-P-2460OGE 
ENGINE 651 AR20.10-P-2460CD 
CLEAN Clean     
3 Set heater control to full output NOTES
The heater for the vehicle must be set to the highest temperature stage.
The heater circuit will not be flushed otherwise.
IMPORTANT For vehicles with an auxiliary heater; also set auxiliary heater to full output.
 
4 Fill cooling and heating system with rinsing solution   AR20.00-P-1142-04A 
IMPORTANT Mix the cleaner to a 5% flushing solution (10 l water, 0.5 l cleaner), added.  
Cleaner for engine and cooling system for oil drag-in, 10 l *BR00.45-Z-1009-04A

5 Warm up engine to operating temperature at medium rotational speed IMPORTANT While engine is running, maintain operating temperature at about 80°C for about 5 min.  
6 Switch off engine and allow cooling system to cool down to about 50°C    
7 Drain flushing solution completely at drain screw of radiator (18) IMPORTANT Observe environmental protection regulations of cleaner manufacturer.  
8 Fill cooling system with fresh water   AR20.00-P-1142-04A

9 Warm up engine to operating temperature at medium rotational speed IMPORTANT While engine is running, maintain operating temperature at about 80°C for about 5 min.  
10 Drain fresh water completely at drain screw of radiator (18) IMPORTANT If required, repeat rinsing procedure with fresh water so that all rinsing solution is removed.  
11 If required, repeat operation steps 4 and 10.    
INSTALLING Install     
12 Replace coolant thermostat (20) ENGINE 651 AR20.10-P-2460CD 
Engine 642 AR20.10-P-2460OGE 
13 Pour in coolant and bleed cooling system MODEL 172 with ENGINE 651
MODEL 204, 207 with ENGINE 642, 651
AR20.00-P-1142CW
MODEL 212 with ENGINE 642 AR20.00-P-1142OGE 
MODEL 212, 218, 221 with ENGINE 651
INSTALLATION NOTES
Do not check the pressure of the cooling system until engine has reached its operating temperature.
Leaks can occur on the cylinder head gasket otherwise.
