Remove/install compressor - AR32.22-P-2001EW

DANGER Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove cover (10)    
2 Detach pressure line (1) from AIRmatic compressor (A9/1) SPECIAL TOOL Box wrench bit
If pressure line connection or pressure line (1) is damaged:

Repair AIRmatic pressure line connection.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Pressure line to compressor/valve unit *BA32.22-P-1007-03E

3 Remove air hose (2) from guide (8)    
4 Detach hose (2) from AIRmatic compressor (A9/1)    
5 Release notch (11) in direction of arrow and detach electrical connection (5) from AIRmatic pressure reduction valve (A9/1y1)    
6 Remove cable tie (9) IMPORTANT Replace cable tie (9).  
7 Detach electrical connection (6)    
8 Unhook air filter (3) from compressor unit    
9 Unscrew nuts (4) and remove AIRmatic compressor (A9/1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, compressor mounting to compressor unit bracket *BA32.22-P-1001-03E 
10 Change mounting of electrical line on AIRmatic compressor (A9/1) MODEL 212.0/1
with CODE 488 (Steel/air suspension)
MODEL 212.0/1
with CODE 489 (AIRMATIC)
When replacing AIRmatic compressor (A9/1).

INSPECT Check     
11 Check elastomer bearing (7) of AIRmatic compressor (A9/1) If a elastomer bearing (7) is hardened or damaged:

Replace elastomer bearing for AIRmatic compressor (A9/1).

12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Replace AIRmatic air suspension compressor relay When replacing AIRmatic compressor (A9/1).  
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Relay assignment of fuse and relay box in left side of engine compartment MODEL 212

IMPORTANT When replacing the AIRmatic compressor (A9/1), always replace the AIRmatic air suspension compressor relay, as its switching contacts may have been damaged previously.

14 Check AIRmatic or steel/air suspension for leaktightness MODEL 212

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform engine test run and check AIRmatic or steel/air suspension for proper operation
