Remove/install hood hinge - AR88.40-P-3060EW

MODIFICATION NOTES

4.1.09 "Disconnect ground line from on-board electrical system" added Step 1  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, liftgates or sliding roof Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being pinched or crushed when working on gas-filled struts under tension Only remove and install gas-filled struts when they are not under tension and when the components are properly secured. AS00.00-Z-0012-01A
1 Disconnect ground line for on-board electrical system battery (G1) Model 204.3 AR54.10-P-0003CW
Model 207, 212 AR54.10-P-0003EW
2 Move engine hood (3) to upright position   AR88.40-P-1000EW 
3 Use screwdriver to raise retainer (4) and unclip gas-operated strut (5) from engine hood hinge (2) NOTES Do not remove retainer (4), otherwise the tension of the retainer (4) is no longer ensured.
NOTES When engine hood (3) is installed, replace engine hood hinges (2) one at time, otherwise the engine hood can fall down or be damaged.
 
4 Place dry cloth between engine hood hinge (3) and water collector (6) NOTES Use dry cloth, otherwise the engine (3) and water collector (6) can be damaged.  
5 Unscrew nuts (7) and carefully lay engine hood (3) down on dry cloth NOTES Secure engine hood (3) against slipping off to prevent damage.
IMPORTANT Installation: Screw in nuts (7) only to stop. They are tightened after adjusting the engine hood (3).
 
6 Remove bolts (8) IMPORTANT Installation: Screw in bolts (8) only until they make contact. They are tightened after adjusting the engine hood (3).  
7.1 Remove engine hood hinge (2) On vehicles without CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection  
7.2 Lift engine hood hinge (2), disconnect electrical connector from left rear engine hood lifter (Y127/1) or right rear engine hood lifter (Y127/2) and remove engine hood hinge (2) On vehicles with CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection  
8 Unscrew engine hood hinge (2) left rear engine hood lifter (Y127/1) or right rear engine hood lifter (Y127/2) On vehicles with CODE (U60) Pedestrian protection and when replacing engine hood hinge (2). AR91.60-P-0900EW
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Adjust engine hood (3) IMPORTANT After adjusting engine hood (3), repair paint damage on nuts (7) and bolts (8). AR88.40-P-3020EW
