Adjust engine hood - AR88.40-P-3020EW

  Adjustment in transverse direction     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Loosen bolts (1) on left and right engine hood hinge (2) and adjust engine hood (3) in transverse direction. Model 204.3, 207 *BE60.00-P-1001-01W 
MODEL 212 up to model year 2014 *BE60.00-P-1001-01U 
MODEL 212 as of model year 2014 *BE60.00-P-1006-01U

2 Tighten screws (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Attachment of hinge to body *BA88.40-P-1001-01N 
  Adjust in longitudinal direction     
3 Loosen bolts (4) on both engine hood lock top sections (5) IMPORTANT Loosen bolts (4) so that the engine hood lock top section (5) can be moved in the longitudinal direction for adjustment of engine hood (3).  
4 Loosen nuts (6) on left or right engine hood hinge (2) and adjust engine hood (3) in longitudinal direction IMPORTANT Adjust left and right engine hood hinges (2) only one after another, otherwise the engine hood (3) lateral adjustment can be lost.

5 Tighten nuts (6) on both engine hood hinges (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Attachment of hinge to engine hood *BA88.40-P-1002-01N 
6 Tighten bolts (4) on both engine hood lock top sections (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut, engine hood catch upper part to engine hood *BA88.40-P-1003-01N 
  Adjust height at rear     
7.1 Loosen bolts (7) on left or right engine hood hinge (2) and adjust height of engine hood (3). With CODE U60 (Pedestrian protection)

8.1 Tighten bolts (7) on left or right engine hood lock hinge (2) With CODE U60 (Pedestrian protection)
IMPORTANT The height difference between the adjusting marks (11) on the engine hood hinge (2) may be more than 3 increment marks at the factory.
IMPORTANT Installation: The engine hood lifter (10) must be aligned toward the adjustment marks (11) on the engine hood hinge (2). The height difference of the engine hood lifter (10) may not be more than one line.		  
8.2 Tighten bolts (13) on left or right engine hood lock hinge (2) Except CODE U60 (Pedestrian protection)  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Attachment of hinge upper part to hinge lower part *BA88.40-P-1008-01N 
  Adjust height at front     
9 Loosen left and right stop buffer (8) and screw all the way down    
10 Adjust height of engine hood (3) with nut (9) on top section of left and right engine hood catch (5) MODEL 204.3, 207 *BE60.00-P-1001-01W 
MODEL 212 up to model year 2014 *BE60.00-P-1001-01U

11 Screw up left and right stop buffer (8) until engine hood (3) makes contact with stop buffers (8) when closed, then tighten left and right stop buffer (8). IMPORTANT Engine hood (3) is installed with slight distortion to prevent vibration.  
12 Repair paint damage with touchup paint pen.
