Remove/install folding top - AR77.30-P-1100MCO

IMPORTANT Notes on soft tops   AH77.30-P-0001-01MCO
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove roof cassette rear spoiler   AR77.33-P-2030MCO 
2.1 Remove inside roof lining Model 451.4 AR77.31-P-1005MCO 
2.2 Remove headliner from roof cassette Model 453.4 AR77.31-P-1005MCO
3 Remove seal (2) from rear soft top (4) and fold toward front    
4 Unscrew bolts (6) and fold folding roof (1) toward front    
5 Remove cover (17) Model 453.4  
6 Mark length of left and right tensioning straps (10) on roof cassette    
7 Remove screw/bolts (9)    
8.1 Remove clamping plates (8) Model 451.4  
8.2 Remove clamping pieces (16) Model 453.4  
9 Pull tensioning straps (10) out of roof cassette    
10 Remove left and right side support (7)    
11 Actuate left and right side support recognition sensors (arrow), simultaneously actuate power soft top switch in closing direction and extend folding roof (1) until slide plates (11) are exposed IMPORTANT Helper required.  
12 Unhook left and right drive cable (12) from slide plates (11)    
13 Pull folding roof (1) with sliders (14, 15) out of both guides (13) on roof cassette, and remove IMPORTANT Helper required.  
INSTALLING Install     
14.1 Connect diagnostic system and cancel coding of power soft top switch Model 451.4  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT Soft top control Power soft top switch AD00.00-P-2000-04MCC
14.2 Connect diagnostic system and denormalize soft top Model 453.4  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT Control units view →

15 Measure and compare clearance (A) between drive cables (12) and guides (13) If clearances (A) differ by more than 1 mm

Synchronize drive cable (12)

16 Slide folding roof (1) with sliders (14) into central track of guides (13) IMPORTANT Helper required.  
17 Slide folding roof (1) with central sliders (15) into inner track of guides (13) IMPORTANT Helper required.  
18 Hook drive cables (12) into slide plates (11) IMPORTANT Helper required.  
19 Align slide plates (11) as shown and carefully pull into outer and central tracks of guides (13) by actuating power soft top switch IMPORTANT Helper required.  
20 Pull tensioning straps (10) into roof cassette IMPORTANT The tensioning straps (10) should not be twisted.  
21.1 Guide tensioning straps (10) through clamping plates (8), tension according to markings and tighten bolts (9) Model 451.4  
21.2 Tension tensioning straps (10) according to markings, insert clamping pieces (16) and tighten bolts (9) Model 453.4  
22 Install side supports (7)    
23 Close folding roof (1)    
INSPECT Check     
24 Fold back folding roof (1) and check tensioning strap (10) for tension IMPORTANT The side edges of the folding roof (1) should be flush with the contour of the side supports (7).
In the event of complaints

Loosen relevant bolt (9) and retension tensioning strap (10)
 
25 Check bonding of folding roof (1) on left and right Model 453.4
If folding roof (1) can no longer bond securely.

Replace non-reusable adhesive residues with new sealing strip, and fill defects
Sealing strip 119.32 Terostat 20x2 mm

26 Insert cover (17) Model 453.4  
27 Open folding roof (1) approx. 10 cm    
28 Align tension cable retaining plates (5) and tighten bolts (6) IMPORTANT Ensure that creases are not present in the folding roof (1).
If there are creases in cover of folding roof (1)

29 Remove loose parts of old adhesive tape in cross-hatched area of seal (2) and replace with new, double-sided adhesive tape IMPORTANT It is not necessary to remove sections of adhesive tape adhering well.
Use double-sided adhesive tape with a width of 19 or 25 cm.
Teroson double-sided adhesive tape, for bonding trim strips and emblems (UV-resistant and weatherproof, black) (width 12 mm), order no.: 107.64 A (width 19 mm), order no.: 107.96 K (width 25 mm), order no.: 117.05 Y

30 Pull off protective foil of double-sided adhesive tape and stick seal (2) onto rear soft top (4) without any creases    
31.1 Install headliner Model 451.4 AR77.31-P-1005MCO 
31.2 Fit headliner to roof cassette Model 453.4 AR77.31-P-1005MCO 
32 Install roof cassette rear spoiler   AR77.33-P-2030MCO 
33.1 Code power soft top switch, read out fault memory and disconnect diagnostic system Model 451.4  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT Soft top control Power soft top switch AD00.00-P-2000-04MCC
33.2 Normalize soft top, read out fault memory and connect diagnostic system Model 453.4

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
34 Start engine and allow to idle    
35 Adjust A-pillar soft top support Model 451.4
IMPORTANT If the folding roof (1) was replaced, it needs approx. 72 h to be completely free of tension. This process can be accelerated by moistening the folding roof.

If the entry position of the folding roof (1) in the A-pillar soft top support or the insertion depth of the folding roof (1) in relation to the roof peak seal is not correct.

36 Close folding roof (1) Model 453.4
IMPORTANT If the folding roof (1) was replaced, it needs approx. 72 h to be completely free of tension. This process can be accelerated by moistening the folding roof.
