Lower Instrument Panel: Removal

BOLT, SCREW AND NUT TABLE
HINT:

All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet codes in the table below.

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the instrument panel (see REMOVAL ).
REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See WIPER SWITCH )
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.
  HINT:
  
  Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
1. Remove the clip.
2. Using a screwdriver, detach the clip and remove the cowl side trim board.
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
REMOVE HEATER CONTROL AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY CENTER
1. Remove the 4 screws and instrument cluster finish panel assembly center.
2. Disconnect the connectors.

REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the 2 screws and front ash receptacle.
2. Disconnect the connectors.

REMOVE INSTRUMENT COVER LOWER CENTER
1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws and remove the instrument cover lower center.

  Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER
1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
2. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.

  Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
REMOVE FUSE BOX OPENING COVER
REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY
1. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
2. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
3. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 screws.
4. Remove the 2 screws and bolt, and separate the instrument panel junction block.
5. Remove the instrument panel.
