Replacing Rear Axle Housing

Rear axle housing

Removal: 

1. Remove wheel carrier from the rear axle housing.

   > 425219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL BEARING HOUSING  - section on "Removing"

2. Remove lower trailing arm at the rear axle housing.

   > 421119 Removing and installing lower trailing arm - section on "REMOVING "

3. Remove rear level sensors from the rear axle housing.

   > 431955 REPLACING REAR LEVEL SENSOR - section on "Removing"

4. Remove rear tie rod from the rear axle housing.

   > 420919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR TIE ROD (TOE CONTROL ARM)  - section on "Removing"

5. Remove anti-roll bar from the rear axle housing.

   > 429019 Removing and installing anti-roll bar - section on "REMOVING "

6. Remove rear final drive from the rear axle housing.

   > 390119 Removing and installing rear final drive - section on "REMOVING "

7. Vehicles with PDCC: 

   Unclip the rear PDCC lines from the brackets.

   > 429019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR ANTI-ROLL BAR (PDCC)  - section on "Removing"

8. Vehicles with PDCC: 

   Unclip the front PDCC lines -1-  from the bracket -2-  .

9. Vehicles with PDCC: 

   Remove valve block from the rear axle housing.

   > 430419 Removing and installing valve block - section on "REMOVING "

   Assembly: 

10. Vehicles with PDCC: 

    Fit valve block on the rear axle housing.

    > 430419 Removing and installing valve block - section on "INSTALLING "

11. Vehicles with PDCC: 

    Clip the front PDCC lines -1-  into the bracket -2-  .

12. Vehicles with PDCC: 

    Clip the rear PDCC lines into the brackets.

13. Fit rear final drive on the rear axle housing.

14. Fit anti-roll bar on the rear axle housing.

    > 429019 Removing and installing anti-roll bar - section on "INSTALLING "

15. Fit rear tie rod on the rear axle housing.

16. Fit rear level sensors on the rear axle housing.

17. Fit lower trailing arm at the rear axle housing.

18. Fit wheel carrier on the rear axle housing.
