Preliminary Work
- Support the engine on the body. → 1001IN SUPPORTING V8 4.8 L DFI ENGINE ON THE BODY
- Remove oil dipstick with guide tube. → Removing Guide Tube For Oil Dipstick
- Remove vibration balancer. → Removing vibration balancer (crankshaft pulley)
- Unclip coolant hoses from the clip on the oil/water heat exchanger.

- Remove the four top screws between the timing-case cover and oil guide housing. -arrows-

- Remove engine guard. → Removing engine guard
- Disconnect coolant supply to the oil/water heat exchanger. To do this, clamp the coolant hoses for the oil/water heat exchanger with hose clamps. For example, use hose clamp 3093
or hose clamp 3094
. Pull the coolant hoses off the oil/water heat exchanger. Coolant will run out.
- Drain engine oil. For details, see → 170117 CHANGING ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER ON DFI ENGINES .
- Remove front wire assembly from the oil pan for PDCC.

- Remove front-axle carrier with steering gear and front-axle final drive (all-wheel final drive). Pay attention to the PDCC line connections when doing so. The connections between the components and the body must be undone. For more information, see →

is removed on the lifting platform complete with spring struts, steering gear -3-
and front-axle final drive -1-
still fitted.

- Remove engine carrier. To do this, remove the screws from the hydraulic mounts from below and remove them from the longitudinal member. →

- On turbo engines, remove the two side oil extraction lines -5-
and (bottom illustration) -8-
from the oil guide housing.

- 10 - Sealing ring
- Remove oil level sensor. To do this, pull off the connector and release the cable. →
Remove screws. Remove oil level sensor by turning it. Oil will start to drip.

- Remove cable plug and joint flange on the oil pressure control valve. → 172619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE (SOLENOID VALVE) ON 4.8-LITRE DFI ENGINES

- Remove oil pan. → Removing Oil Pan
