1	Rotate tires, and check tire inflation and condition Follow the pattern shown in the Owner's Manual.
2	Replace air cleaner element (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) If the vehicle is regularly driven in dusty conditions, replace every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km).
	Replace dust and pollen filter (see DUST AND POLLEN FILTER REPLACEMENT ) If the vehicle is driven mostly in areas that have high concentrations of dust, pollen, or soot in the air, replace every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km). Replace filter whenever airflow from the heating and air conditioning system is less than normal.
	Inspect drive belt (see DRIVE BELT INSPECTION ) Look for cracks and damage, and inspect auto tensioner; no adjustment is needed.
3	Replace automatic transmission fluid (see ATF REPLACEMENT ), and transfer assembly fluid (see TRANSFER ASSEMBLY FLUID REPLACEMENT ) Use Acura ATF DW-1. Automatic transmission fluid capacity: 3.1 L (3.3 US qt) Use hypoid gear oil GL4 or GL5. Transfer assembly fluid capacity: 0.43 L (0.45 US qt)
4	Replace spark plugs (see IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ) Use ILZKR7B-11S (NGK) or SXU22HCR11S (DENSO).
	Replace timing belt (see TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT ), and inspect water pump (see WATER PUMP INSPECTION ) If the vehicle is regularly driven in very high temperatures over 110°F(43°C), or in very low temperatures under -20°F(-29°C), replace every 60, 000 miles (USA models)/100, 000 km (Canada models).
	Inspect valve clearance (cold) (see VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT ) Intake: 0.20-0.24 mm (0.008-0.009 in) Exhaust: 0.28-0.32 mm (0.011-0.012 in)
5	Replace engine coolant (see COOLANT CHECK ) Use Acura Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2. Capacity (including the reserve tank): 7.3 L (1.93 US gal)
6	Replace rear differential fluid (see REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT ) Use Acura All-Wheel Drive Fluid (DPSF). Capacity: 2.53 L (2.67 US qt) Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or towing trailer results in higher level of mechanical (shear) stress to fluid. This requires differential fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If the vehicle is regularly driven in these conditions, have the differential fluid changed at 7, 500 miles (12, 000 km), then every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km).

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) (If engine electrical maintenance is required)

The Acura MDX SRS includes a driver's airbag in the steering wheel hub, a front passenger's airbag in the dashboard above the glove box, seat belt tensioners in the front seat belt retractors, side curtain airbags in the sides of the roof, and side airbags in the front seat-backs. Information necessary to safely service the SRS is included in this Service Manual. Items marked with an asterisk (*) on the contents page include or are located near SRS components. Servicing, disassembling, or replacing these items requires special precautions and tools, and should be done by an authorized Acura dealer.

To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could lead to personal injury or death in the event of a severe frontal or side collision, all SRS service work should be done by an authorized Acura dealer.
Improper service procedures, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, could lead to personal injury caused by unintentional deployment of the airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, and/or seat belt tensioners.
Do not bump or impact the SRS unit, front impact sensors, side impact sensors, or rear safing sensor, especially when the ignition switch is in ON (II), or for at least 3 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to LOCK (0); otherwise, the system may fail in a collision, or the airbags may deploy.
SRS electrical connectors are identified by yellow color coding. Related components are located in the steering column, center console, dashboard, dashboard lower cover, in the dashboard above the glove box, in the front seats, in the roof side, and around the floor. Do not use electrical test equipment on these circuits.
