Inspection Procedure 3: The LDW does not enter the warning monitor mode under some circumstances: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Check the camera mounted surface on the windshield. 

    Visually check the LDW camera mounted surface on the windshield for scratch, cracks, contamination or drain drops.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Windshield glass replacement (Refer to WINDSHIELD GLASS REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the LDW diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if DTC is stored in the LDW.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Troubleshoot the LDW-ECU. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
    2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list. 

    Check the ETACS-ECU system data list.

    • Release the brake pedal.
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 290 Stoplight switch OFF

      OK: Normal condition is displayed. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Troubleshoot the stoplight. Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 2: THE STOPLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE OR GO OUT NORMALLY .
  4. STEP 4. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list. 

    Check the ETACS-ECU system data list.

    • Turn-signal light switch: LH or RH position.
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 343 Turn switch left ON
      Item 344 Turn switch right ON
    • Turn-signal light switch: Except LH or RH position.
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 343 Turn switch left OFF
      Item 344 Turn switch right OFF

      OK: Normal condition is displayed. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Troubleshoot the ETACS. Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 11: THE COLUMN SWITCH SIGNAL IS NOT RECEIVED .
  5. STEP 5. Operate the turn signal light switch check 

    Operate the turn signal light switch to LH or RH side to check that the turn signal lights illuminate and go out.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 6.
    2. NO:  Troubleshoot the turn signal light (Refer to DTC CHART ).
  6. STEP 6. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list. 

    Check the LDW-ECU service data.

    • The vehicle is being driven on the road where lane division lines are clear with the LDW activated.

    • The vehicle is being driven on the road where lane division lines are not clear with the LDW activated.
      Item No. Item name Normal condition
      Item 103 Lane Detection (R) OFF
      Item 104 Lane Detection (L) OFF

      OK: Normal condition is displayed. 

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
    2. NO:  Replace the LDW-ECU.
