Inspection Procedure 2: When the Selector Lever is Set to "N" Position, Cruise Control is not Cancelled: Diagnosis

CAUTION:

If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnostic trouble code may be stored. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines.
Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the CAN bus lines is normal.

STEP 1. Diagnose the CAN bus line.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
3. Diagnose the CAN bus line. (Refer to EXPLANATION ABOUT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS )
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the check result satisfactory?
1. YES: Go to Step 2.
2. NO: Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTIC TABLE ). Then go to Step 5.
STEP 2. Check the data list.
Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check the data list (Refer to DATA LIST REFERENCE TABLE ).
- Item 88: Transmission range switch
Q: Is the check result normal?
1. YES: Go to Step 3.
2. NO: Check the transaxle system (Refer to CODE NO. P0705: MALFUNCTION OF TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH < CVT >, CODE NO. P0705: TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH SYSTEM < A/T >). Then go to Step 5.
STEP 3. Check the transaxle system diagnostic trouble code.
Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), perform transaxle system diagnostic trouble code (Refer to DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION < CVT >, DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION < A/T >).

Q: Is any diagnostic trouble code stored?
1. YES: Repair the transaxle system (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART < CVT >, DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART < A/T >). Then go to Step 5.
2. NO: Go to Step 4.
STEP 4. Check the symptom.
Q: When the selector lever is set to "N" position, is the cruise control cancelled?
1. YES: It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
2. NO: Replace the ECM (Refer to ECM < 2.4L ENGINE >, ECM < 3.0L ENGINE >). Then go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Check the symptom.
Q: When the selector lever is set to "N" position, is the cruise control cancelled?
1. YES: The procedure is complete.
2. NO: Return to Step 1.
