Inspection Procedure 7: Tone Alarm Do Not Sound Normally: Diagnosis
- STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), diagnose the CAN bus line CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Diagnose the CAN bus line.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to DIAGNOSIS ).
- STEP 2. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the combination meter diagnostic trouble code
Check if DTC is stored in the combination meter.
Q: Is the DTC stored?
- YES: Refer to COMBINATION METERS DIAGNOSTIC .
- NO: Go to Step 3
- STEP 3. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read for any diagnostic trouble code
Check if DTC is stored in the ECM, TCM, ASC-ECU, ACC/FCM-ECU, KOS-ECU, OSS-ECU, ETACS-ECU, heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU) and LDW-ECU.
Q: Is the DTC stored in the any of the above?
Set to the ECM.: Troubleshoot the engine (Refer to DTC CHART < 2.4 L ENGINE >, GROUP 13B - DTC Chart P.13B-51 < 3.0 L ENGINE >).
Set to the TCM.: Troubleshoot the TCM. Refer to DTC CHART < CVT > or refer to DTC CHART < A/T >.
Set to the ASC-ECU.: Troubleshoot the ASC. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
Set to the ACC/FCM-ECU.: Troubleshoot the ACC. Refer to CHECK CHART FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
Set to the KOS-ECU.: Troubleshoot the KOS. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
Set to the OSS-ECU.: Troubleshoot the OSS. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
Set to the ETACS-ECU.: Troubleshoot the ETACS. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
Set to the heater controller assembly (A/C-ECU).: Troubleshoot the A/C. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
Set to the LDW-ECU.: Troubleshoot the LDW. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
The DTC is not stored.: Go to Step 4
- STEP 4. Check by scan tool (M.U.T.-III) "Special Function"
Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), select "Test" from the special function of the combination meter. Execute the following item to check the tone alarm.
- Item 3: Tone alarm (AUTO)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5
- NO: Replace the combination meter.
- STEP 5. Retest the system
Check that the tone alarms sound normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- NO: Replace the combination meter.
