64 52 523 Replacing compressor for air conditioning
Special tools required:
- Follow safety instructions for handling REFRIGERANT and REFRIGERANT OIL .
Risk of damage! Restart engine only when air conditioning has been correctly filled.
Follow notes for OPENING AND REPLACING PARTS in refrigerant circuit.
If air conditioning is opened for more than 24 hours: REPLACE CAPACITOR FOR HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain off AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
- Disconnect NEGATIVE BATTERY LEAD
- Drain COOLANT
- Remove FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN
- Remove FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER
- Remove FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION
- Release drive belt for alternator. See DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR (B36 / B38) or DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR (B46 / B48) .
Version with brake air duct:
- Remove right BRAKE AIR DUCT
Removal:
Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Remove refrigerant lines (3).
Release screws (1).
Feed out compressor (2).
Replacement:
Danger of compressor damage!
Danger of customer complaints due to reduced cooling power of the Air conditioning!
Before the installation of the new compressor, it is absolutely necessary to adjust the amount of refrigerant oil in the new compressor!
Read and comply with all applicable SAFETY INFORMATION .
Installation:
Position compressor (2) correctly.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ .
Position refrigerant lines (3) correctly.
Tighten down screws (2).
Tightening torque 64 52 4AZ .
Attach and lock connector (1).
Use special tool 00 9 030 to install sealing rings without damaging them.
Required reworking:
- Evacuate and fill AIR CONDITIONING
- Add COOLANT
- Vent and fill COOLING SYSTEM
