64 53 551 Removing and installing/replacing capacitor (with desiccant insert) for heating and air conditioning system

Special tools required: 

WARNING:
IMPORTANT:

Risk of damage! Restart engine only when air conditioning has been correctly filled.

Follow notes for OPENING AND REPLACING PARTS  in refrigerant circuit.

If air conditioning is opened for more than 24 hours: REPLACE CAPACITOR FOR HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM 

NOTE: Desiccant insert cannot be replaced separately.

Necessary preliminary work: 

Removal: 

Release screws (1).

Remove strut (2).

Release screws (1).

Loosen screw (1).

Feed out air duct (2).

Release screw (1).

Remove refrigerant line (2).

Press radiator slightly forwards from rear.

Unlock left and right latch mechanism (1).

Pull capacitor (2) slightly upwards.

Loosen screw (1).

Remove capacitor (2).

Installation: 

Position capacitor (3).

Position refrigerant line (2).

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ .

NOTE: The fins on the radiator and condenser should not be damaged.

Replace sealing rings.

Use special tool 00 9 030 to install sealing rings without damaging them.

Capacitor (2) must be engaged in latch mechanism (1) on left and right.

Position refrigerant line (2).

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 64 53 3AZ .

NOTE: Replace sealing rings.

Use special tool 00 9 030 to mount sealing rings without damaging them.

Feed in air duct (2).

Tighten screw (1).

Tighten screw (1).

Tighten down screws (1).

Position strut (2).

Tighten down screws (1).
