54 34 133 Removing and installing/replacing roofliner in soft top on left or right
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove the following trim panels:
- Remove the following seals:
Open folding sunroof a few centimeters to relieve tension on soft top fabric.
Pull off trim (1) towards rear.
Detach soft top fabric (1) from front bow (2).
Installation:
Replace double-sided adhesive tape.
Unclip front plastic catches (1) in marked area.
If necessary, remove soft top fabric (2) from front bow (front) in direction of arrow.
Detach tension cable (1) at side from roof frame.
Installation:
Secure tension cable (1) to front bow with insulating tape.
Unscrew left and right nuts (1).
Unlock retaining lug (2) on both sides.
Disengage wire bow (1) on both sides.
Carefully release retainers in marked area (2).
Carefully release soft top fabric from crossbar.
Installation:
Replace double-sided adhesive tape.
Drill out blind rivets (1) and remove remnants.
Remove roofliner (2) from soft top frame at front.
Release screw (1).
Remove tension cable under screw (1) from trim panel (2).
Drill out blind rivets (1) at front and rear on main bow (2).
Remove blind rivets (1) completely from main bow (2).
Remove roofliner (3) from main bow (2).
Drill out blind rivets (1) and remove remnants.
Unfasten screws (2).
Remove complete roofliner (3).
Installation:
Perform FUNCTION CHECK and look out for folds in and tensioning of soft top fabric.
Check retaining hooks.
With new soft top fabric, the force of the mechanism may not be sufficient to fully close the retaining hooks.
Open bow and close folding sunroof.
Relock bow.
Soft top fabric is stretched and after settling the retaining hooks are correctly locked again.
