51 44 011 Removing and installing/replacing roofliner (long version with slide/tilt sunroof)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove SUN VISORS AND COUNTER-SUPPORTS 
• Remove MIRROR LIGHTS
• Remove CEILING LIGHT (FRONT)
• Remove FRONT ROOFLINER TRIM 
• Remove PANELS FOR FRONT ROOF PILLAR  (A-pillar trims)
• Remove GRAB HANDLES 
• Remove PANELS FOR DOOR PILLAR  (B-pillar trims)
• Remove PANELS FOR REAR ROOF PILLAR  (C-pillar trims)
• Remove ceiling light (rear). See CEILING LIGHT (REAR) and REAR READING LIGHT .
• Remove REAR MAKE-UP MIRROR 
• Remove REAR ROOFLINER TRIM
• Remove AUXILIARY BRAKE LIGHT COVER
• Remove RIGHT FRONT SEAT
• Remove REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS

Open slide/tilt sunroof (1) completely.

Release screws (2) on mounting frame (3).

Version 1: 

Slide floating roofliner (1) behind headliner (3).

Release remaining screws between mounting frame and glass sunroof cover with special tool 54 1 230 (Torx socket)

Release screw on mounting for bracket at rear.

Version 2: 

Connect BMW diagnosis system and Service function:

• Body
• Locking and security functions
• Slide/tilt sunroof
• Select delivery position.

Remaining screws on mounting frame are now accessible and can be released.

Move both front seats back as far as possible.

Move front seat backrests as far back as possible.

Release screw (2).

Feed out roofliner (1) at mucket (3).

Pull roofliner (1) towards front out of sliding clips (2) and feed out towards right rear door.

Installation: 

Following parts of roofliner (7) must not be damaged or missing:

1. Mounting for console, front
2. Metal nuts for cover frame
3. Mounting for console, rear
4. Mountings for sliding clips
5. Sliding clips (release from roof frame)
6. Retainers (if necessary, insert in roof frame)

Installation: 

Installation sequence:

1. Carefully attach headliner at rear.
2. Secure screw on mounting for bracket
3. Screw down screws for sunroof frame
4. Screw down grab handles at front on left/right
5. Screw down sun visors and counter supports
6. Screw down grab handles at rear on left/right
7. Add final details to vehicle
