54 10 004 Adjusting glass tilt sunroof cover

Special tools required:

Installation note:

Microencapsulated screws (Loctite) must be replaced and may not be reused
Screw connection must be completed within 20 minutes (start of curing)
Microencapsulated screws must not be retightened
Clean thread of nut beforehand in event of repeated use

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove FRONT COVER
Fully close glass tilt sunroof
Check glass tilt sunroof for correct SETTING

Only for distance setting:

Remove HEADLINING

If the glass tilt sunroof is outside the setting tolerances, adjust as follows:

Check distance:

Compare distance (A) of glass tilt sunroof cover to body with special tool 00 9 341 .

Slide special tool 00 9 341 between gasket and insert. It must be possible to slide the card against the same level of resistance.

If necessary, check glass tilt sunroof for correct INSTALLATION WITH SPECIAL TOOL and repeat.

Distance setting:

Move gate or glass tilt sunroof cover downwards
Insert glass tilt sunroof cover
Glass tilt sunroof cover settles into "X" and "Y"
Compare distance(A) of glass tilt sunroof cover to body with special tool 00 9 341 .
Slide special tool 00 9 341 between gasket and insert. It must be possible to slide the card against the same level of resistance.

Height adjustment:

Perform the following step in succession on the left and right sides (starting adjustment at the front cowl panel):

Slacken Torx screws (1) on left and right until glass tilt sunroof cover (2) can just still be moved.
(Apply Loctite to Torx screws).
Slide glass tilt sunroof lid starting at cowl panel on left and right where necessary to "Z"

Screw down Torx screws at front left and right on hinges, tightening torque 54 10 01AZ
Repeat operations at rear (on gate)

Check height:

Check height of glass tilt sunroof cover (1) in relation to body (2) with special tool 00 9 315 .

Press glass tilt sunroof cover (1) at front and rear upwards or downwards until the ideal position is reached.

Height:

Front - glass tilt sunroof cover flush to 2 mm deeper
Rear - glass tilt sunroof cover flush to 2 mm higher
Maximum height offset in "Z": max. 1 mm (right - left)

Check function and setting.

INITIALIZE glass tilt sunroof.
