51 16 040 Removing and installing/replacing housing on left or right exterior mirror

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove retaining ring on exterior mirror. See RETAINING RING (UP TO 07/13) or RETAINING RING (FROM 07/13) .
Remove protective cap on exterior mirror. See COVER CAP or PROTECTIVE CAP (FROM 07/13) .
Remove MIRROR ADJUSTMENT DRIVE

Release screws (1).

If necessary, disconnect the connector (3) from the Top View camera.

Installation note:

Ensure latch mechanism (2) is correctly seated.

Carefully loosen screw holes (1) from exterior mirror (2).

Feed out housing (3) downward.

Catches (1) and screw holes (2) on housing (3) must not be damaged.

For replacement with Top View camera version
