51 16 045 Removing and installing/replacing retaining ring on left or right exterior mirror (up to 07/13)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove MIRROR GLASS
Remove MIRROR ADJUSTMENT DRIVE

Release screws (1).

Carefully bend exterior mirror protective cap outwards and carefully unclip retaining ring (2).

Latch mechanisms on retaining ring (2) and retaining lugs on protective cap must not be damaged in the process.

Also unlock and disconnect plug connection (1) for optical signal transmitter (2).

Remove retaining ring (3).
